New Footage Reveals Moment WHCD Suspect Rushed Toward Trump Security [WATCH]

The Justice Department on Thursday released new video footage showing White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting suspect Cole Allen charging a security checkpoint at the Washington Hilton as part of the alleged assassination attempt against President Donald Trump.

The footage, shared on social media by D.C. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, shows Allen approaching a ballroom security area where multiple law enforcement personnel were stationed.

According to authorities, the video appears to show Allen armed with a long gun as he moved toward the checkpoint.

Moments before the incident, Allen is seen entering a doorway near an area where several TSA and Secret Service agents were positioned, along with two magnetometers set up for screening.

A law enforcement officer accompanied by a K-9 unit noticed Allen and followed him toward the side room.

The officer did not enter the room and eventually turned away from the doorway.

Seconds later, Allen emerged from the room at a sprint and began firing at security personnel, authorities said.

A Secret Service officer responded by drawing a weapon and firing as Allen rushed through the metal detector area.

Other officers and agents also opened fire as Allen continued moving in the direction of the ballroom.

Video footage appears to show Allen aiming his long gun toward the first officer, who responded with gunfire.

During the exchange, one Secret Service agent was wounded.

Officials said there is no evidence the agent was injured by friendly fire.

“All the evidence that I’ve seen: The suspect shot our officer, point-blank range, with a shotgun. Our officer, heroically, returned fire while being shot … in the chest,” Secret Service Director Sean Curran said on Fox News’ “The Will Cain Show.”

Curran added that the injured officer was able to continue returning fire despite being hit.

“He was able to get off five shots,” Curran said of the officer, who was wearing a bulletproof vest and falling as he fired.

“The suspect was not hit.”

Pirro also addressed the video, stating it showed “Cole Allen shoot a US Secret Service officer during his attempt to assassinate the President.”

She said, as did Curran, that there is no evidence to suggest the agent’s injuries were caused by friendly fire.

Additional footage released shows Allen inside the hotel the day before the incident.

He is seen walking through hallways and briefly entering the hotel gym while wearing jeans and a long-sleeved shirt.

On the night of the alleged assassination attempt, Allen approached the security checkpoint wearing what appeared to be a black trench coat, black pants, black shirt, and a red tie.

Authorities noted that when he emerged from the side room moments before the shooting, he did not appear to be wearing the trench coat.

Allen, 31, has been charged with attempted assassination of the president, transportation of a firearm across state lines to commit a felony, and discharging a firearm.
