A homicide investigation is underway in Seattle after a 25-year-old brewery employee was found shot to death inside a closed beer garden following an overnight dispute involving co-workers, as reported by the New York Post.

According to police, Quusaa “Q” Margarsa was discovered dead Saturday morning inside The Growler Guys in northeast Seattle when employees arrived to open the business.

Authorities said the suspected shooter, 20-year-old Lucas Logan, surrendered to police two days later alongside his attorney.

Investigators said surveillance footage showed Margarsa, Logan, and an unidentified woman entering the locked beer garden around 5:25 a.m. Detectives believe Logan carried a handgun inside the establishment in a cross-body bag.

Police said the group spent about an hour inside drinking and socializing before an argument broke out near the front entrance.

According to investigators, the woman later told police the disagreement began when Margarsa wanted Logan to leave while she remained at the bar.

Detectives said surveillance footage showed Margarsa turning toward the door with a key in hand moments before shots were fired.

“The male suspect pulled out a handgun from his crossbody bag and shot Margarsa multiple times in the back,” the probable cause statement said.

Prosecutors said three shell casings were recovered near Margarsa’s body.

Authorities said Logan and the woman fled after the shooting by climbing through the upper portion of a Dutch door before leaving in the woman’s vehicle.

Later that morning, another employee reportedly found the door open and Margarsa still holding his work key.

When Logan surrendered, his attorney, Pete Mazzone, argued the shooting was self-defense.

“This is a clear case of not only self-defense, but defense of others,” Mazzone said during a hearing at King County Jail.

Mazzone claimed Logan feared for his safety and for the woman’s safety because they allegedly felt trapped inside the business.

“The fear was we are locked in here, and this guy doesn’t want to let the girl leave,” Mazzone said.

Prosecutors disputed that account. Deputy prosecutor Chris Anderson told the court surveillance footage showed Margarsa attempting to unlock the door when he was shot.

“Mr. Margarsa was found with the key to that door in his dead hand. Not a weapon, a key,” Anderson said.

Matthew York later set Logan’s bail at $2 million while investigators continue gathering evidence ahead of formal charges.
