The Insanity of Karmelo Anthony’s Defenders

The verdict and sentencing in the Karmelo Anthony trial were hardly a surprise and anything but a perversion of justice. 

The boy was guilty. Not only was he guilty, but it’s also pretty clear he was looking for a fight when he went to that track meet, and most certainly was when he entered that tent. I don’t think he went into that tent with the intent of killing Austin Metcalf. Instead, he went in there wanting to kill somebody white.

Yet to hear his defenders, what happened in that Texas courtroom was just another lynching of an innocent black man who didn’t do nuffing wrong.

Anthony got the verdict he deserved, and arguably a lighter sentence than he did. No doubt there are lots of racists who will use the killing of Austin Metcalf for their own purposes, but that doesn’t wipe away the fact that you don’t have to be a racist to think that a boy who walked into a tent with everybody alive walked out having stabbed another boy in the heart.

Many, perhaps most, of Anthony’s supporters think it is a good thing that Metcalf is dead. They don’t support Anthony because they think he was innocent; they support him because they know he is guilty, and approve what he did.

It’s the same as with Luigi Mangione’s supporters. The only difference is who the targets are that the savages want dead. In the case of Karmelo Anthony, his black supporters want white people dead. In the case of Luigi Mangione, an awful lot of white women and socialists want rich people and anybody involved in corporate America dead.

It’s not just health insurance executives who make easy targets. Just listen to the rhetoric about wealthy people, and it hardly differs in tone, just in the particulars of the accusations.

Hate is hate, and hate is so prevalent because it is a powerful motivator, and there are industries of leftists which feed off the hatred they create.

Think of the SPLC. Its business model is hatred, so they create it. And in doing so, they egg on the grievance culture that has gotten here.

And hate begets hate. I have seen it online. People who, not so long ago, would dismiss those they see online as exceptions now believe they are the rule. And they also believe, rightly, that the target of their hatred and violence is not a specific person for a specific wrong they believe was done to them, but everybody who doesn’t agree with them.

They aren’t wrong. There is a growing divide—an unnecessary divide, but a very real one—between groups. Many black people believe it when they are told they should hate all white people, and they do, and in return more and more white people are hating black people. 

It’s as predictable as the riots in Belfast.

The grievance industry benefits mightily from this. Look at how much money the BLM movement extorted out of corporate America in 2020, and how much power it derived from that. The DEI industry thrived off the hate, and grievance mongers gained enormous power in our major institutions. 

Hate pays. And it isn’t that expensive to gin it up. Think of it as a marketing expense for the SPLC and the DSA.

This sort of division isn’t just about black and white. Cracks and divisions in our society are proliferating. You see it everywhere here, and even more so in other Western countries like the UK. Liberals want to hide it. The reality is that you can’t, because we see it in our daily lives. 

Fixing the immigrant crisis is, comparatively, much easier than racial divisions that are getting ginned up, and you see how nearly impossible that is to accomplish. Quit importing third-worlders with values incompatible with ours and deport every one of them you can and you could mitigate that problem, but the grievance industry riots when you try, and liberal politicians go on a jihad. 

You can’t do that with race, and the grievance industry wants the racial divide to grow. 

The best you can do there is quit funding it. Government pays for a lot of it, after all.
