Vice President JD Vance fired back at Israeli cabinet members who have targeted President Donald Trump over the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the United States and Iran released on Wednesday.
During a Thursday press conference, Vance responded to an Axios report that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was frustrated with the negotiations. Vance said the report was not “reflective” of the conversations he has had with Netanyahu, though he acknowledged the prime minister may be saying different things privately.

What did concern Vance, however, were comments from members of Netanyahu’s cabinet.
Vance noted that it “bothered” him that members of Netanyahu’s cabinet “who have come out and attacked the deal and in some ways very personally have attacked the President of the United States.”
He said his message to those officials would be “two-fold, number one Donald J. Trump is the only head of state in the entire world who is sympathetic to the nation of Israel at this moment in time. Vance then offered some of his own advice to the Israeli cabinet members, saying that if he were in their position, he “might not attack the only powerful ally that I have left in the entire world.”
He also delivered a second message, while noting that Netanyahu himself had not gone down the same path as some members of his cabinet.
“The other thing I would say is that over the last three months two-thirds of the defensive weapons who have protected your homeland have been built by American hands and paid for by American tax dollars. The problem for Israel is not Donald J. Trump and anybody in Israel who thinks their biggest problem is the President of the United States needs to wake up and smell the reality of the situation that country is in.”

The United States and Iran announced the MOU on Sunday, though the administration did not immediately release the text publicly. President Trump signed the document late Wednesday while in France for the G7 meeting.
During a briefing call Wednesday, senior Trump administration officials read portions of the agreement to reporters, including Daily Caller White House Correspondent Reagan Reese, and walked through its key provisions, arguing that the temporary arrangement provides a workable framework for both sides. The MOU establishes a baseline requirement that Iran eliminate its stockpile of enriched uranium by diluting it to lower enrichment levels, one Trump administration official told the Caller, who described the provision as the minimum expectation under the agreement and suggested negotiators hope to secure additional commitments.
Sanctions relief would be directly tied to Iran’s compliance with the deal’s nuclear provisions, meaning Tehran would only receive economic benefits if it fulfills its obligations under the agreement.
The administration also argued that previous sanctions on Iranian oil exports were ineffective because Iran continued selling oil to China at discounted prices. The official said the Trump administration viewed that arrangement as counterproductive and ended the practice as part of the broader agreement.

A formal signing ceremony is expected Friday, with Vice President JD Vance and other members of the president’s negotiating team anticipated to attend. (RELATED: Neocons, Iran Hawks Highly Skeptical And Critical As Trump Pushes To End War)
Iran initially sought immediate access to frozen assets and restricted funds. Under the terms ultimately agreed to, however, Tehran will only gain access to portions of those assets after demonstrating compliance with the MOU’s requirements.
The official said the structure was designed to ensure Iran receives benefits only after following through on its commitments.
