New details about Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico’s financial disclosures and past involvement with a climate advocacy organization are drawing scrutiny as he continues his campaign for higher office, as reported by Red State.

Talarico, a state representative and Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, has spent recent months presenting himself as a candidate capable of appealing to a broad range of Texas voters.

However, recently highlighted financial records and comments tied to a climate activist group have generated fresh attention during the campaign.

Here’s What They’re Not Telling You About Your Retirement

According to information contained in Talarico’s personal financial disclosure, the 37-year-old candidate reported a single Wells Fargo checking account with a balance between $15,000 and $50,000. The disclosure indicated the account is jointly owned.

A filer comment attached to the disclosure stated, “The account is jointly held by the filer and the filer’s mother.”

The filing did not list any additional checking accounts.

The disclosure also revealed that Talarico reported receiving an in-kind political contribution from his parents in 2021 to cover moving expenses. The reported contribution totaled $1,437.84 and occurred when Talarico was 32 years old.

The financial information has become a point of discussion as the Senate campaign gains momentum and both supporters and critics examine the candidate’s background and personal records.

In addition to questions surrounding the financial disclosure, attention has also focused on Talarico’s participation in an event connected to Third Act, a climate advocacy and protest organization geared toward Americans over the age of 60.

According to reports, Talarico participated in a June 2024 organizing call celebrating Third Act’s expansion into Texas.

At the time, the organization was increasing efforts aimed at pressuring major financial institutions to reduce ties with the fossil fuel industry while also opposing the development of liquefied natural gas export facilities along the Texas Gulf Coast.

During the organizing effort, Talarico delivered pre-recorded remarks welcoming the group to the state.

“This is the frontline in the fight to save democracy and save our planet, and so your arrival couldn’t come at a better time,” Talarico said.

“I look forward to working alongside all of you in this important work, and I just want to thank you for coming to Texas.”

The comments have attracted attention because Texas remains one of the nation’s largest energy-producing states, with oil, natural gas, and LNG exports playing major roles in the state’s economy.

Following renewed scrutiny over the remarks, Talarico’s campaign emphasized his support for energy production.

Campaign spokesman JT Ennis told Fox News Digital that Talarico “supports LNG production and backed legislation to strengthen it in the Texas legislature.”

The campaign did not clarify whether Talarico continues to support Third Act Texas or remains involved with the organization.

The developments come as the Senate race continues to take shape and candidates face increasing examination of past statements, policy positions, and financial disclosures.

Talarico, who is serving his third term in the Texas House of Representatives, has become one of the state’s most visible Democratic figures.

As the campaign progresses, questions surrounding his financial records and his past association with climate activism are likely to remain part of the broader debate over his candidacy.
