It has come to this: NBC apologized for uttering the word “biological” when discussing the Supreme Court Title IX case yesterday.

INSANE: NBC’s Craig Melvin offers a trigger warning for trans people watching…“Just a quick note here. The terms that we’re using here during our reporting, biological male, biological female, the high court put those terms in quotations in their decision and their dissent. But just so you know, we’re using those terms from the decision itself, biological male, biological female.”
To people like you and me, those sentences stand out like a sore thumb, and present an indictment against NBC and the entire media complex that has submitted to the tyranny of the Associated Press Stylebook and its ideological underpinnings.
I suspect that, to many who regularly watch Pravda Media and get their news from it, it sounded at most a bit weird, if they noticed at all. The constant repetition of falsehoods such as some rapist being “female” or that a boy is a “transgender girl” has anesthetized them to such idiocy. They may dismiss it as harmless verbiage and not a direct threat to our common-sense understanding of the world.
…Ironically, he could have read the most apropos line from Justice Thomas’s opinion to follow the warning: “To use language to obscure reality to show ‘indifference regarding the truth’— is to lie to the public and cease to treat our fellow citizens ‘as equal[s].’”

Clarence Thomas, in his opinion, hit the nail on the head: this is an assault on the truth. The whole point of it is not just to make some person or cause sympathetic by using spin; it is to upend or “queer” our shared understanding of the world and shape it to the liking of the Critical Theorists, whose main tool is redefining words for political purposes.
Reshaping words is, in effect, reshaping our understanding of reality. If you control the language, the history, and the cultural means of production, you control politics and resources in a totalitarian fashion.
Common sense is the foundation of language, and to a certain extent the reverse is true as well. When we speak of it, we are referring to a shared understanding of the world. While we use the term to refer to something specific—wisdom gained through experience—its importance goes much farther than learning that still having checks in the checkbook doesn’t mean you have money in the bank.
Our local ABC affiliate in Phoenix reported on the story as such, to which I replied with a correction: pic.twitter.com/5Goj9S3rHw

It’s knowledge we have without being conscious of it. What a boy is. What a girl is. What is up and what is down. It is the pre-rational foundation from which we can all draw when we meet people and discuss things. So when we sit down and watch the TV newscaster, we believe we know what they mean when they say “boy” or “girl.”
Critical Theory is a direct attack on that common sense, with the goal of ripping away the foundation of thought and language. If a word can mean anything, it means nothing until they pour a new meaning into it. It is how you get Queers for Palestine, which ought to be a contradiction in terms.
But, genuinely, to many “Queers,” “Palestinian” is just another word for Queer, because Queer means opposition to the current order. Their sexual preferences are political, which is why Scott Weiner is not “Queer” in their eyes.
Scott Wiener showed up to the trans march and for the first time we kicked his ass out. It’s sad because while he’s written some good legislation for queers, hes ultimately a genocidal-supporting center right shill. Trigger warning: broken man walking away defeated. NBC News is, consciously or not, participating in this attack on common sense by accepting the redefinition of male and female away from the common-sense, biological understanding of sexual difference. Whether it is just following the AP Stylebook or consciously promoting the undermining of Western understandings of reality is not really the point.
The point is that they are trying to unmoor their viewers from the shared reality on which our culture is based.
Now it is true that common sense can be off, or even wrong. But it is through appeals to common understandings that we revise our sense of the common understandings. When societies revise what they hold in common, it is done in common, referring to common priors. When science demonstrated that the heliocentric model of the solar system was superior to the prior earth-centric model, it did so using our common language and standard of proof.
It wasn’t “trust the science,” but show your work in a manner we can all understand.
Critical Theory simply omits that pesky method, going straight to “this is the new definition, and you must accept it.” As such, it is inherently totalitarian.
Or, as Thomas put it, it ceases “to treat our fellow citizens as equals.” And that is the point. By denying common sense, our power as citizens is no longer held in common.
