More than 30 people were injured Wednesday after a Maryland Transit Administration bus crashed into multiple vehicles before striking a building in Pikesville, Maryland, triggering a large emergency response and prompting officials to close nearby roads as rescue crews worked at the scene, as reported by The New York Post.
The crash occurred along Reisterstown Road, just outside Baltimore. According to Baltimore County officials, the collision involved numerous civilian vehicles, including one that overturned during the incident.

Emergency responders were dispatched quickly as reports indicated multiple injuries and people trapped inside damaged vehicles.
Authorities said one person became trapped inside the bus while another individual was trapped inside a passenger vehicle.

Firefighters and rescue crews worked to free both victims. Officials also said one critically injured patient was extricated from the scene and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Because of the number of injured people, the Baltimore County Fire Department issued a second mass casualty incident alarm to bring additional emergency personnel and resources to the scene.
First responders continued treating victims while securing the crash area.

A building engineer was also dispatched after the bus struck a structure, allowing officials to evaluate the building for any potential damage and determine whether it remained safe.

Investigators had not announced what caused the crash as emergency operations continued.

Officials have not released additional information about the conditions of the other injured victims or whether anyone inside the building was hurt.
Maryland Gov. Wes Moore said state officials were monitoring the situation and coordinating with local authorities as the response unfolded.
In a statement posted on X, Moore said, “Dawn and I are keeping everyone impacted in our hearts and prayers. We are deeply grateful for our first responders who acted with speed and skill to ensure the safety of our neighbors.”
He added, “We’ve been in close coordination with local officials to provide any support needed on the ground.”
The Maryland State Highway Administration announced that roads surrounding the crash site were closed while emergency personnel remained at the scene.
Motorists were urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes until investigators completed their work and the roadway could be safely reopened.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine what led to the collision.
Officials have not released additional details regarding the sequence of events or whether any charges or citations are expected as part of the investigation.
