A violent scene unfolded in Lower Manhattan when a deranged man set off an incendiary device outside 26 Federal Plaza, home to the New York offices of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security, and federal immigration courts.

The chaos erupted around 8:30 in the morning as the suspect, a 43 year old Army veteran from Poughkeepsie, showed up armed, ranting, and ready to cause trouble.

Authorities say the man used gasoline and fireworks to start a blaze right outside the main entrance to the building.

He reportedly threatened bystanders with airsoft rifles before being subdued by police in a dramatic takedown that was caught on video.

Footage quickly spread across social media showing the man throwing fireworks into the flaming mess he had just started.

One explosion blew out as officers charged forward, tackling him and extinguishing what could have become a much more serious fire.

Onlookers can be heard shouting as smoke filled the air.

The man apparently rolled up to the federal building pulling a cart smeared with the anti-ICE slogan “ICE off our streets.”

Inside that cart, investigators say, were additional long guns, fireworks, and various unknown materials.

It was as if he wanted everyone to see that his target was clear: federal officers enforcing immigration laws.

WATCH:

Officials report four civilians sustained minor injuries.

The Fire Department of New York said one person was taken to a nearby hospital while three others refused medical treatment.

Thankfully, no law enforcement officers or federal employees inside the building were hurt.

A parking manager across the street, Omer Bulla, described hearing what he thought were gunshots before witnessing police swarm the scene.

He said that by the time he could look outside, “the police already took the guy.”

His quick recollection revealed just how fast officers brought the chaos under control.

The building where all this unfolded, the Jacob K. Javits Federal Office Building, has long been a major operational hub for federal immigration enforcement in New York.

During President Trump’s term, the location was the center of protest activity by left wing activists furious about immigration crackdowns.

The same crowd that chanted for open borders and the abolition of ICE had previously staged stunts at that site, sometimes getting violent.

Now, years later, that kind of rhetoric seems to have blown up literally on the steps of federal property.

Investigators are not yet calling it terrorism, but the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force confirmed they are treating the case seriously.

In their official statement, the FBI said, “The individual has been taken into custody and the FBI New York Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating the incident.”

The suspect, who has not yet been criminally charged, reportedly served in the military and has a record of erratic behavior.

Sources suggest he may have lived alone and posted anti ICE comments online, raising questions about whether extremist political propaganda motivated his actions.

The contrast is striking. When leftist demonstrators block highways or attack federal workers, liberal politicians rush to describe them as “activists.”

Yet if someone so much as waves a pro Trump flag too close to a federal building, they are branded an enemy of the state.

The double standard never seems to fade.

Agencies like ICE have been vilified for simply doing their jobs enforcing existing law.

In cities like New York, where sanctuary policies protect illegal aliens, anti ICE hysteria goes unchecked in the name of “compassion.”

That rhetoric only fuels radicals who believe violent disruption is justified.

Thanks to rapid action from police and federal agents, this episode did not turn into a large scale tragedy.

But make no mistake, attacks motivated by anti ICE sentiment have become a dangerous trend.

The same narrative that says immigration enforcement is “oppression” turns easily into violent activism when encouraged by far left voices that glorify resistance.

The terrifying incident at 26 Federal Plaza should serve as a warning that soft political talk about “abolishing ICE” and “defunding Homeland Security” does not stay peaceful forever.

The words spark action among unstable individuals who interpret them as a call to arms.

WATCH:

As investigators determine the suspect’s motives, Americans should ask whether dangerous rhetoric from the radical left is inciting more violence against public servants sworn to uphold the law.

For now, that suspect sits in custody while investigators comb through every detail of the attack.

But one thing is clear.

New York City’s war on law and order has real world consequences, and its open hostility toward immigration enforcement has become more than a political slogan.

It has become a threat.
