Long Arm of Somali Fraud Diaspora Could Upend Last Week’s Swedish Election Results

Nine days ago, Swedes went to the polls in an election to determine who would form the next national government. 

And in a bruising contest with a squeaker of a finish, the left-wing opposition was looking at a three-vote (THREE!) Riksdag representative margin over Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson’s right-wing coalition.

They were still waiting on overseas ballots to be completely counted – there are over a quarter of a million expat Swedes still on active voting rolls – and Kristersson was also exploring possible alliances with disaffected centrists who might jump ship to join him.

But on the surface, it looked as if the right-wing Sweden Democrats’ coalition, with all its accompanying immigration reform, had been vanquished by the immigration-friendly, center-left Social Democrats and their allies.

Some analysts said the right was too effective and was a victim of its own success. It became easy to forget the societal ills that brought them into power to begin with.

For one thing, the crime that had swept them into office four years previously had been dealt with and fallen off dramatically. The immigration waves swamping the Swedish cities were slowed to a trickle.

As I said in my post at the time on the parallels between their election and our own midterms:

…We are also in the middle of Democrats using a mass collective amnesia event to campaign on, and that the crime in their cities is a direct result of their policies, not President Trump heartless cruelty to the illegal aliens among us.

And Jo Bhakdi’s warning about the left ‘being free to take more openly hostile measures against the native population‘ rings so true just listening to the Democratic Socialists of America candidates who made it through the primary process onto our own midterm election ballots.

They’re here and they’re hostile. And we have plenty of foolish tools voting for them.

The leftists had their imported voting bloc queued up and ready to vote, and just enough of them, it appeared, to toss the law-and-order tough guys who’d ruined a good thing.

The night Sweden’s far-right stopped winning

There might not have been any dancing at the somber, but you could sure tell the Reuters reporter was dancing a jig in his heart.

When the far-right anti-immigrant Sweden Democrats won a record one-fifth of the vote in a 2022 election, Viking rock player and party leader Jimmie Akesson led supporters in an impromptu celebratory conga.

On Sunday, the dance floor was largely empty.

Instead, party veterans at their hotel HQ near Stockholm’s city centre sombrely absorbed something they had never seen before: a decline in support at a parliamentary vote. 

“We knew there was always a chance that we would be punished after these four years of (government) cooperation, but I didn’t think the drop would be this big,” party veteran Richard Jomshof, 57, who has just written a book on Islam called “Kafir” or infidel in Arabic, told Reuters as a DJ pumped music in vain.  

The usually buoyant Akesson departed quietly after a six-minute speech to supporters without talking to reporters, having seen his party shed about 3 percentage points, more than any other party.

The SD’s vote fall was the decisive factor in giving the centre-left opposition a projected tight victory – by about 42,500 votes and two seats – over the right-wing governing bloc of Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

THE PARTY’S OVER – THE FAR RIGHT’S ATTEMPT TO TURN HATE INTO VOTES FAILS

That last is an Al Jazeera introductory line. Hard to tell them and Reuters apart sometimes, isn’t it?

In any event, the votes were in, and that’s what we all thought – it was a done deal.

Swedish police have called into question two of the recent electees, and they happen to be members of a group of five Somali candidates who were all elected to the Riksdag. African and Somali papers have run several articles bragging about the group.

It turns out things may not have been on the up-and-up in the voting districts involving the two individuals, and questions are swirling about one man in particular.

The thing is, these allegations spurring the investigation are coming from the police themselves, not after-the-fact. Police were apparently alerted by an anonymous tip to irregularities during early voting in one district, and immediately went to check it out. They reportedly wanted to search the candidate’s car at the scene but were denied permission. They have surveillance video, photos, and everything and are just sorting out what they’ve gathered. There is also an investigation being reopened by an official Swedish government anti-corruption agency.

…Now Expressen reports that police conducted surveillance during early voting following an anonymous complaint about suspected electoral misconduct.

According to the police report, voters were allegedly given Left Party ballots with candidates already marked. Police also monitored a car said to have transported voters between residential areas and an early-voting station at the Kupolen shopping centre.

Most of those transported were reportedly of Somali background.

Ali himself appears in the police surveillance material, according to Expressen. Police reportedly wanted to search the vehicle for pre-marked ballots but were denied permission by the investigation leader.

The preliminary investigation into suspected improper influence on voting has now been reopened by Sweden’s National Anti-Corruption Unit.

Mr. Ali has an unusual background for someone who just won a parliamentary election, literally coming out of nowhere as a brand-new citizen. 

And I mean, he’s been a Swedish citizen for less than a year.

Immediately afterward, Left Party and Green Party officials were stunned as established names lost seats to virtually unknown Somali and Kurdish candidates who barely speak Swedish, propelled by organized personal-vote campaigns in immigrant-heavy districts.

The most striking case is in Dalarna. Mohamed Abdukardir Ali, a 30-year-old Somali from Borlänge, stood ninth on the Left Party list. He received 648 preference votes and jumped over incumbent Kajsa Fredholm, the party’s climate spokesperson and long-time Dalarna representative. Ali was granted Swedish citizenship only in February 2026 after being denied in 2024 because of roughly 163,000 SEK in debts to the Enforcement Authority. He has been a party member for about a year, is described as unemployed and in debt restructuring, and was largely unknown even to local Left Party officials.

Police in Dalarna had a car under surveillance during early voting. Officers followed it as it shuttled mostly Somali-background voters from suburban areas to the polling station at Kupolen mall. They suspected pre-marked Left Party ballots were being distributed and requested a search of the vehicle. The preliminary investigation leader refused. The case was initially dropped for lack of evidence, then reopened on 21 September after new information.

Prosecutors at the National Anti-Corruption Unit are now investigating “improper influence on voting.” According to reports, people were offered money to vote for a specific candidate. ATM images show an individual withdrawing cash and later handing out money together with ballots.

Similar preference-vote surprises hit the Greens and Left elsewhere, with Somali-background candidates leaping over established names. Clan and arab mobilization delivered the left its narrow 176–173 majority.

Sweden’s election system just delivered a parliament seat to a man who was not a citizen a year ago and whose campaign is now the subject of a fraud investigation. This is what “integration” and imported voting blocs look like in practice. It will not get better. It will get worse.

Well…huh.

Party officials have no clue who the mystery man who vaulted over eight other candidates, including the incumbent, is.

…Yet even the Left Party’s group leader in Ali’s home municipality of Borlänge, Matts Hammarqvist, seems unsure who the party’s new MP actually is: 

“I actually don’t really know who he is,” he says. For someone just elected to Sweden’s parliament, his digital footprint is remarkably small, with even photographs of him difficult to find.

Another one of the Somali Five is under the National Anti-Corruption Unit’s microscope for his seemingly miraculous victory as well.

With 28 of 29 districts counted he has 343 personal votes, far ahead of first-name candidate Emelie Larsson (147). 

Omar’s case is now also part of a police investigation into suspected election fraud run by the National Anti-Corruption Unit. 

The case concerns improper influence on voting. 

An anonymous report alleges that voters from migrant areas were bused to early voting and given pre-marked ballots. 

Omar and fellow Somali Left Party politician Mohamed Abdukardir Ali appear in image material in the investigation. 

…Omar previously featured in local media articles  as chair of a community association accused of membership irregularities. 

When Swedish journalist approached him in front of his apartment yesterday morning, he first claimed that they had mistaken him for someone else and that his name wasn’t even Omar.

When he returned to his apartment in the evening and it turned out that the journalists were still there, he confirmed his identity, saying he was glad about receiving so many votes and referred further questions to the party’s press office.

OH, WAIT – MAYBE IT WAS – NUTHIN’ UP MUH SLEEVE!

Keep in mind that the difference between a leftist coalition and maintaining the super-effective Kristersson coalition is only three Riksdag seats. If the investigation overturns these elections and fraud-free do-overs are held that elect center-right candidates (as exit polls showed native Swedes voting overwhelmingly), this would create a single-seat majority and make it easy for centrists to switch back to the current prime minister’s side.
