Chucky Mask Suspect Terrorizes Six, Asks Jogger if She is Ready to Die [WATCH]

A masked menace allegedly terrorized six people during a bizarre early morning rampage through Philadelphia, including a female jogger whom he twice asked if she was ready to die.

Police said the suspect remains on the loose as investigators work to identify and arrest him.

The suspect, believed to be a Black male between 16 and 20 years old, wore a Chucky doll mask while targeting people at random Wednesday morning.

His reported spree unfolded within roughly 15 minutes, turning an ordinary commute into a scene straight out of a horror movie.

Philadelphia Police Captain Jason Smith said the young man entered a Dunkin Donuts shortly after 5:20 a.m. while wearing a distinctive Halloween face mask resembling the murderous doll character.

Employees reportedly refused to serve him because he was acting erratically.

After leaving the store, the suspect allegedly approached several people at nearby locations while holding up his cell phone and apparently recording the encounters.

Whatever his motive, police say his behavior quickly escalated from obnoxious antics to threats and intimidation.

Surveillance footage reportedly showed the masked individual saying something to a man wearing a reflective vest before chasing him.

The suspect then turned his attention toward a woman who was jogging through the area, creating the most disturbing confrontation of the morning.

“He’s holding his cell phone up in front of her, at which time he asks her ‘Are you ready to die?’” Smith said while describing the footage.

That is not a prank, despite whatever social media attention the suspect may have imagined he was earning.

The woman was understandably alarmed by the masked stranger following her and making a direct threat against her life.

“[She] appears startled, at which time the male asks her again, ‘Are you ready to die?’ Clearly she’s not ready to die, so she takes off,” Smith said.

The jogger injured her leg while attempting to escape and was reportedly “screaming for help.”

A person should be able to exercise or travel to work without being hunted down by some masked creep armed with a cell phone and a taste for terror.

A witness named Jameka spotted the danger and tried to alert the jogger from across the street.

“I started to wave at her from across the intersection and say, ‘Hey there’s someone behind you, look behind you,’” she told WPVI.

Jameka did more than stand around filming the chaos for social media.

She confronted the suspect and kicked him in the chest, providing a sharp dose of street level accountability while attempting to protect another woman.

“He just seemed so disoriented about what his goals actually were. I had bags; he wasn’t reaching for those,” Jameka said.

Her account suggested the suspect was not pursuing an obvious robbery, but was instead roaming the neighborhood and deliberately frightening strangers.

“It didn’t seem like he had a clear goal to like actually get in La Colombe [a coffee shop] to do anything, so I was like OK, well, let’s see if you can fight, and he couldn’t.”

The masked tough guy apparently discovered that terrorizing unsuspecting women is considerably easier than dealing with someone willing to fight back.

Police said the suspect could face charges including terroristic threats, harassment, assault, reckless endangerment and intimidation.

Smith also said investigators intend to pursue a weapons charge because the suspect kept his right arm behind his back while threatening the jogger, apparently creating the impression that he could be armed.

No weapon was visible in surveillance footage, according to police, but that does not make the threat harmless.

A masked stranger asking whether someone is ready to die while concealing one arm is plainly calculated to create fear, and the jogger’s injury shows the real consequences.

Authorities have launched a manhunt and are asking for help locating the suspect.

“Trust me when I tell you this… we’re not going to do our darnedest to try and locate this individual? You bet we are,” Smith told reporters.

Coffee shop employee Kate Egan summed up the neighborhood’s frustration after the spree.

“It’s really unsettling just trying to get to work and have a kid like this actively terrorizing women,” she said, describing a basic public safety failure that residents should never be expected to tolerate.
