Light Bulbs Just Went on in Britain Why They Can’t Afford to Stop the Boats From France.

I know – you’re thinking, ‘What do you mean, ‘can’t afford to STOP the boats’? They can’t AFFORD the boats, period, so stop them, right?’

We’ve been talking about boats launching from France, packed with mostly North African ‘asylum seekers’ for almost three years now. Big boats, small boats, rafts, bathtubs – you name it. If it floats, it goes.

And what could possibly be so hard about snatching them up or towing them back, or, God forbid, they hit the beach or have to be rescued before they drown, dry them off, and take them back.

Should be simple, no? Clear-cut action, tiny island, smallish channel crossing. 1 + 1 = 2  logically, but somehow always winds up being 3.

They keep coming, for all the new schemes announced and even with new prime ministers.

How does nothing change even though, on top of it all, the British have been paying the French out the wazoo for years now? By the end of 2029, it’s going to tote up to more than a billion dang euros over the past six years.

…The UK has agreed to provide £662 million (€767 million) to France between 2026/27 and 2028/29 under a new three-year funding agreement confirmed in late April 2026. £501 million will be used to strengthen existing controls in northern France. £161 million is available to fund new tactics.

The previous three-year deal, made in March 2023, had committed the UK to contributing €541 million (around £476 million at the time of the agreement).

The French are like, LE CHA-CHING!

As the British look for little 300-person hamlets to dump more Abduls and Achmeds into with as little fanfare as possible, all the while paying lip service to an increasingly pissed-off British public footing the bill for this invasion and cultural takeover.

The first clue as to why the British government, instead of acting, just keeps bending over the French wine barrel comes in a BBC article today.

It seems there is a tiff ongoing between French fishermen and those British seagoers in the waters off the Isle of Jersey. It’s a matter of licensing – always a sticky issue between states here, I can imagine over there. And it’s getting downright nasty with international waters in the mix.

The French fishermen feel discriminated against.

…French fishermen have complained of being prevented from operating in British waters because of difficulties in obtaining licences. To receive a licence under an agreement with the EU, French boat operators have to show a history of fishing in the area.

Jersey has the sole power to issue the licences, and as of last week all fishing boats are required to have a licence to operate there.

On Friday, the Jersey government granted 41 permits to French fishing vessels that are equipped with technology that allows them to be located.

But the French government claimed the list of approved ships came with further demands that “were not arranged or discussed, and which we were not notified about”.

Well, okay. Settle it like adults with a baguette and a bottle of wine or a round of fish slapping.

Everybody then shakes hands and goes back to fishing.

But, sadly, no – and it’s a shame I’m not there to mediate. I know.

The French have slapped back, and ho boy. It has certainly gotten people’s attention for the severity of its retaliatory tone.

The French government has warned it could cut electricity to Jersey amid an escalating row over post-Brexit fishing rights.

Maritime Minister Annick Girardin told the French parliament that new rules governing access to Channel Islands waters were unacceptable.

She said France was “ready to use… retaliatory measures” under the UK-EU post-Brexit trade deal.

“I am sorry it has come to this [but] we will do so if we have to,” she said.

Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands, receives 95% of its electricity through three underwater cables from France.

There’s not much Jersey can do to top that, and if they tell the French to blow off, the French blow the lights out all over the island.

This is not a good position for the Jerseyites, and I am sure they are wondering how they became so utterly dependent on the cranky Francs.

‘Thank a climate cultist‘ would be that answer.

In point of fact, this turned out to be a – dare I say it – illuminating moment for many in Britain, as first the indignant response to the French threat gave way to ‘holy smokes.’ And I would imagine they turned from the BBC story to one that GloblTrvlr sent me yesterday and, again, lights flashing ‘DANGER DANGER DANGER’ had to be going off in their heads when they reread it in light of the French threat to cut off Jersey’s power.

Yesterday, France was, for all intents and purposes, powering all of London and the burbs.

Energy Security?

“nearly 70% of London and the South East’s electricity was being imported from France and the Low Countries on Tuesday. That total reached 74% on some days last week.”

Welcome to the Third World! Emergency Blackout Rules Expose the True Cost of Britain’s…

— Latimer Alder (@latimeralder) August 19, 2026

On Monday, The Telegraph had a piece warning the British that the new grid rules allowed the National Energy System Operator (NESO) to handle system shortages with rolling blackouts.

Emergency power cuts could be imposed on millions of households at short notice to avoid nationwide blackouts, under new rules introduced by grid bosses.

Measures that came into effect this week give the National Energy System Operator (Neso) the authority to tackle electricity shortages with rolling power cuts around the country.

Each area would have its power switched off for three hours at a time. Neso would have to give just eight hours’ notice to use the so-called demand control rotation protocol.

The new measures, first reported by The Guardian, are designed to bridge a gap between Neso’s current emergency powers and rolling-blackout plans that require government approval.

Currently, the UK’s electricity supply emergency code, a national plan of energy rationing, can only be triggered by ministers and requires emergency legislation.

On Tuesday, the island’s urban inhabitants found out that they weren’t making the bulk of their electricity in any event. They were buying it from the French. But if something untoward were to happen to French capacity or any of the trunklines, as recently happened during the last heatwave, where would they be?

Rolling blackoutville.

Did anyone dare ask themselves, ‘What happens if le French got le pissed off?’

Ask someone on Jersey.

Ah.

Exactement!

Lights going on all over the country at the thought of them going out if something upsets the neighbors.

And there’s nothing they can do about it.

⚡ Richard Tice says Britain has been importing almost 30% of its electricity from Europe for much of today

“No wind” – yet successive governments bet heavily on wind power

The whole country was depending on Europe for 30 percent (!) of its electricity on Sunday.

So it seems Brits can now blame climate cultists for both their once-comfortable, now rapidly devolving, nearly Third World standard of living as well as the actual Third World cultural types being dumped in the house next door.

There is nothing on Earth a progressive socialist cannot destroy.
