Florida Democratic Senate candidate Angie Nixon is heading into the general election with a political record that reads more like a socialist activist handbook than a serious platform for federal office, as reported by Breitbart.

Her past remarks include praise for a convicted cop killer, demands to restore DEI policies, attacks on immigration enforcement, and support for exposing children to drag performances.

Nixon, a Florida state representative backed by the Democratic Socialists of America, defeated Democrat Alex Vindman in the primary. She will now challenge Republican Rep.

Ashley Moody in November, giving Florida voters a stark choice between conservative leadership and radical left-wing agitation.

Among Nixon’s most startling moments was her decision to invoke Assata Shakur while campaigning inside a church.

Shakur was convicted of murdering a New Jersey state trooper and later escaped prison before fleeing to Cuba, where the communist regime provided sanctuary.

“I’m gonna open this up for questions, but I’m gonna leave y’all with these words of a famous freedom fighter before we open it up: Assata Shakur,” Nixon said.

She then quoted Shakur, saying, “‘It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win. We must love and protect one another. We have nothing to lose but our chains.’”

Calling a convicted cop killer a freedom fighter would be disqualifying in a normal political environment.

Among the socialist wing of the Democratic Party, however, such rhetoric apparently qualifies as campaign material, even when delivered from a church.

Nixon used the quotation to launch into complaints about voting laws, school closures, law enforcement, immigration enforcement, and the White House Ballroom.

She also portrayed illegal aliens detained by federal authorities as innocent neighbors being kidnapped, ignoring the nation’s immigration laws and the duties of federal officers.

She then repeated Shakur’s words and claimed there was “absolutely nothing to lose” except “our chains.”

The spectacle placed revolutionary Marxist rhetoric at the center of Nixon’s campaign pitch while casting American institutions and law enforcement as instruments of oppression.

Nixon has also called for the return of DEI policies, insisting government must engineer equal outcomes through preferential treatment.

“You actually have to just make sure that you are passing policies that work to level the playing field. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with DEI, with leveling the playing field. There’s nothing wrong with that,” she said.

She argued that access alone cannot address what she described as generations of trauma and poverty.

Her answer is more government intervention and the restoration of disputed racial policies, the same bureaucratic approach voters and institutions across the country have increasingly rejected.

Immigration is another area where Nixon stands firmly with the activist left. Asked during an appearance on MS Now whether she supports open borders, Nixon replied, “I support a comprehensive and clear pathway to citizenship for folks.”

That carefully packaged answer still points toward citizenship for illegal aliens rather than firm enforcement of existing law.

Nixon has gone even further by calling for Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to be jailed and suggesting they will inevitably target and kill black Americans.

“We’re black. They gonna profile us, too. They can’t tell the difference between a black American that is a descendant of slaves here in this country or someone from Jamaica or Nigeria,” Nixon stated.

She added, “They are going to racially profile us, and they are going to escalate things, and they are going to shoot and kill us.”

Those sweeping accusations portray federal immigration officers as would be killers while erasing the dangerous work they perform against traffickers, violent criminals, and illegal immigration networks.

It is an inflammatory claim designed to frighten voters while advancing the socialist campaign to abolish ICE.

Nixon’s record also includes screaming through a bullhorn during a special legislative session concerning new political districts.

The episode fit her broader style, heavy on confrontation and activist theatrics, but noticeably lighter on the restraint voters might expect from someone seeking a seat in the United States Senate.

Then there is Nixon’s position on drag shows for children.

She has claimed there is “no sexualization at a drag show” and acknowledged taking her own children to one, describing that form of performance as “wholesome” entertainment.

Questions remain about which event Nixon attended with her children.

Florida previously investigated a drag production that included sexual themes and a performance titled “Screwdolph the Red Nippled Reindeer,” hardly the sort of family programming most parents would confuse with wholesome entertainment.

Florida voters will now judge Nixon’s record against Moody’s.

Between the cop killer praise, socialist policy demands, attacks on ICE, enthusiasm for DEI, and defense of children attending drag shows, Nixon has provided a remarkably clear picture of what she would bring to Washington.
