Gaslighting…what is it?

Merriam-Webster has a two-part clinical definition.

  1. psychological manipulation of a person usually over an extended period of time that causes the victim to question the validity of their own thoughts, perception of reality, or memories and typically leads to confusion, loss of confidence and self-esteem, uncertainty of one’s emotional or mental stability, and a dependency on the perpetrator
  2. the act or practice of grossly misleading someone especially for one’s own advantage

I would use former CIA spook Elaine Slotkin’s picture next to the dictionary entry on both counts.

What the manipulative senator did last week was a textbook example of utilizing a convincingly concerned inquiry to plant a (until that moment) total non-issue as an issue she’s supposedly concerned about.

The nation’s top military general said the U.S. military has no current plans to send troops to polling places during November’s midterm elections.

“The Joint Force has no plans to send Federal military personnel or Federalized members of the National Guard to polling places during the 2026 elections,” Gen. Dan Caine, chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, wrote Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.), in a letter initially obtained by the Associated Press.

“Likewise, the Joint Force has no plans to use such personnel to seize ballots, voting machines, or other election-related material,” Caine added.

The letter answered a request Slotkin had sent to Caine and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, asking them to confirm the Pentagon would not send federal troops to the polls or seize election materials of any kind.

The Pentagon told Military.com it had nothing more to add beyond the content of the letter.

CONFIRM THE PENTAGON WILL NOT SEND TROOPS TO POLLS OR SEIZE ELECTION MATERIALS

Had this made anyone’s radar?

Actually, no, it hadn’t until it made all of the national news orifices attuned to Democratic gaslighting.

Who was concerned about this, and when did this deep concern that needed to be addressed just prior to the midterms suddenly surface?

Ah. The answer is a few paragraphs into the very Democrat-friendly Military.com article.

‘Concerns,’ the piece says, ‘Go back to the 2020 election.’

Really?

Concerns, and ‘broader unease among Democrats.’ Along with Slotkin ‘claims’ that the president is ‘laying the groundwork’ to claim the elections were stolen.

…Slotkin’s letter grew out of a broader unease among Democrats about the administration’s willingness to domestically use the military. She told the AP that President Donald Trump has been laying the groundwork to claim the elections were stolen by the opposition party.

Caine, the nation’s highest-ranking military officer, said that no such plan or agenda exists.

“I have neither received nor anticipate receiving any unlawful order concerning the role of the Joint Force in the upcoming November 2026 midterm elections,” he wrote.

This is interesting, as the senator provides no justification whatsoever for her claims. There is simply a reference to uneasiness.

Her examples of Trump overstepping his presidential authority in deploying the nation’s military are purely recycled, laughable progressive hysteria and innuendo.

…Slotkin told the AP earlier in August that Trump has been laying the groundwork to claim the elections were stolen. She noted that Trump contemplated using the military to seize voting machines after his loss in 2020 and has deployed the National Guard to cities against the wishes of Democratic leaders. He also deployed active-duty Marines to Los Angeles during his immigration crackdown in 2025.

Trump had ‘contemplated’ – but never acted. He made some Democratic mayors mad and their cities demonstrably safer. 2025 was also not the first time Marines had been deployed to Los Angeles during riots.

The entire paragraph is a nothingburger. At no point are the riots and lack of Trump-dispatched troops during the peaceful but fiery summer of 2020 noted.

But now her wholly invented ‘claims’ for the groundwork being laid for a presidential military intervention in the election have become a TDS version of ‘when did you stop beating your wife?‘ gotcha. General Caine has had to officially deny being part of planning something that wasn’t on the table or the public’s radar to begin with.

Schlicker ‘n Schnotkin, no?

Expect the outrage mob to follow up late at night and online, because a U.S. Senator claims…and that’s enough.

At the same time, there’s another avenue of attacking the integrity of the upcoming midterms through the most vile means at their disposal, and it involves, yet again, another vicious CIA hack shamelessly manipulating the public with blatant lies as an elected official.

In regard to the recently Supreme Court-upheld Trump executive order on mail-in ballots, the governor of Virginia, Abigail Spanberger, spat out a bald-faced BS story in a blatant attempt to disenfranchise her state’s deployed military members while on Wolf Blitzer’s program.

If you are serving our country abroad, I believe that you should have the ability to cast a vote in our elections.

The Trump Administration is attempting to take that ability away. pic.twitter.com/t3rmxRFKTz

— Governor Abigail Spanberger (@GovernorVA) August 28, 2026

As you can tell from the community note, the ballots of deployed military members are specifically exempted from the EO, and the information page on the Postal Service’s new rules is quite explicit.

• Are all ballots for federal elections covered by the Final Rule?

No. Ballots covered under the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (52 U.S.C. 20301 et seq.) are not covered by the Final Rule.

Scummy drama queen, CA U.S. Senator Alex Padilla jumped on the bandwagon, as no doubt he was instructed to do.

BREAKING: A whistleblower from the USPS is warning that Trump’s changes to the mail-in voting system could delay or block thousands of ballots from reaching voters.

Mail ballots are starting to go out to military voters. This is chaos with the intent to disenfranchise millions…

— Alex Padilla (@AlexPadilla4CA) September 1, 2026

…Mail ballots are starting to go out to military voters. This is chaos with the intent to disenfranchise millions of Americans who vote by mail — the majority of whom tend to vote for Democrats.

Spanberger’s interview was posted and corrected on X within minutes, not to mention viciously taken to task in hundreds of comments, as was Padilla’s.

The multitude of corrections on Spanberger’s purposefully erroneous information wasn’t enough for TDS-infected CNN, whose Wolf Blitzer had seemingly pounced on the chance to stir up some more Trump resentment if he could.

Blitzer and CNN let the provenly false and pernicious misinformation sit there and stew for three full days before issuing an ‘oops.‘

Perhaps, Blitzer said, ‘one of my comments gave the wrong impression,’ all the time he was nodding like a delighted hyena at Spanberger talking.

NOW that the lie has had time to work its magic, Blitzer is all about clarification.

LET ME BE CLEAR

CNN’s @wolfblitzer forced to give a “quick note of clarification” after allowing @GovernorVA Spanberger to lie, falsely suggesting US troops would lose mail-in ballot voting due to Trump’s E.O.

“A comment I made suggested that U.S. military & overseas voters’ ballots would be… pic.twitter.com/cTJsWiHE9M

— NOVA Campaigns (@NoVA_Campaigns) September 2, 2026

“A comment I made suggested that U.S. military & overseas voters’ ballots would be impacted by these directives. I want to be clear right now: those ballots are exempt from the Postal Service’s new rules”

Probable Translation: I ACCOMPLISHED EXACTLY WHAT I MEANT TO DO

You’re not fooling anybody, pal.

Like Slotkin, CNN is playing a game of drop the stink bomb, hoping the stench will hang around a good long while before they have to make a half-assed apology, if they ever do. They are all Harry Reid playbook throwbacks, and all Democrats want to do is be able to ape his smirk and smarmy, ‘Romney didn’t win, did he?‘

They’ll do whatever and gaslight whomever to get there.

We’re just a lot smarter and meaner this time.

Editor’s Note: Republicans are fighting for election integrity by requiring proper identification to vote. It’s common sense, yet Democrats are spreading lies about the impact of such a measure.
