Abdul El Sayed Adds Another Greatest Miss by Branding Hard Work a Cult [WATCH]

Michigan Democrat Abdul El Sayed has added another entry to his growing collection of political blunders, this time by suggesting that faith in hard work amounts to membership in a cult.

That message should land splendidly in a state built by farmers, factory workers, tradesmen, and small business owners.

El Sayed delivered his latest sermon while headlining the Islamic Society of North America convention in Detroit.

The gathering reportedly featured a collection of leftist activists, critics of Israel, and apologists for Iran, hardly the crowd one would expect to defend traditional American values.

The Free Beacon reported that previously announced speaker Tariq Masood was removed after allegations that he forced his 13-year-old niece into marriage.

El Sayed was also scheduled for a panel with leftist commentator Cenk Uygur and New Jersey cleric Zaid Shakir.

The panel carried the title “Cultivating God Awareness in a Turmoiled America.”

The framing was hardly subtle, since America was presented as the troubled patient while the assembled ideological lecturers positioned themselves as the doctors.

El Sayed then launched into his familiar style of political preaching, complete with sweeping claims about society and carefully omitted references to individual choices.

His remarks offered Republican opponent Mike Rogers enough campaign material to keep Michigan television stations busy for months.

“We’ve got this culture in our society, that we’ve allowed to fester, where, we think that when people… when people don’t have means, it’s because they have failed.

Poverty is not a failure, that when people live in persistent poverty, it is a failure on our society and not on those people.”

That statement reveals the collectivist foundation beneath El Sayed’s polished rhetoric.

Society receives all the blame, government receives another invitation to intervene, and personal responsibility disappears from the conversation as conveniently as a Democrat’s concern about spending after Election Day.

El Sayed went further by attacking what he called the “Cult of Hard Work,” arguing as though the belief that effort can improve a person’s circumstances is some sinister national delusion.

Moderator Azhar Azeez answered, “Amen, brother,” while the audience applauded the insult to one of the Midwest’s defining virtues.

Michiganders know better because generations of families have lived the alternative lesson.

Hard work may not guarantee mansions or private jets, but it can produce stability, dignity, food on the table, savings in the bank, and opportunities for children.

The traditional Midwestern outlook is neither cruel nor complicated.

Honest labor brings value, discipline keeps people away from destructive habits, and steady effort gives individuals a better chance to shape their own future rather than waiting for politicians to rescue them.

El Sayed frequently leans on his scientific and medical credentials when critics point to the socialist flavor of his politics.

He once declared, “I’m not a socialist, I’m a scientist, I’m a doctor. If I had one political philosophy it’s that I want us to build what we would build if we took seriously the idea that all of our kids were all of our kids…”

Yet questions surrounding his use of the physician label make his attack on hard work especially revealing.

The original report notes that El Sayed did not complete a medical residency, pass medical board examinations, or hold a state medical license in Michigan, New York, or elsewhere.

That makes his lecture about the supposed cult of effort more than merely tone deaf.

He has emphasized the title of doctor as part of his public identity while reportedly skipping the demanding professional steps required to practice medicine on real patients.

Vice President JD Vance has criticized El Sayed’s rhetoric as collectivist foolishness dressed in flowery language.

The description fits a candidate who keeps finding new ways to insult the culture and values of the very voters he claims he wants to represent in Washington.

First came his stumbles involving football and Mackinac Island, and now hard work has joined the list of things El Sayed apparently cannot discuss without alienating ordinary Michiganders.

If this is his strategy for capturing a United States Senate seat, Republicans may want him speaking more often.
