President Trump turned the Republican Party’s first ever midterm convention into a full scale campaign rally Wednesday night in Dallas, promising a $5,000 payment to every adult citizen if the GOP keeps both chambers of Congress on Nov. 3.

He asked voters to treat the election as a direct verdict on his agenda and final two years in office.

Speaking before thousands at the American Airlines Center, Trump urged supporters to “pretend that I’m on the ballot” so he can “finish the job.”

The president framed the contest as a stark choice between his populist program and Democrats embracing socialism, open borders, higher taxes, and weaker public safety.

The biggest surprise arrived during what Trump called the “best part” of his energetic 107 minute address.

“If the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate, both of them, because of our tremendous economic success… I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000,” Trump said.

Trump compared the proposal to a prosperous business distributing money to its shareholders.

“We’re going to give you that Trump dividend to $5,000 if we win, and we’re going to win.”

The proposed payout would carry a massive price tag, likely exceeding $1.2 trillion at a time when the national debt has already surged past $40 trillion.

That detail could make fiscal conservatives reach for the aspirin, particularly after Washington’s pandemic spending helped fuel the inflation that hammered American families.

Trump previously pushed for $2,000 pandemic checks in 2020, but then Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell reduced the amount to $600.

Joe Biden later approved another $1,400, and inflation eventually peaked at 9.1 percent in June 2022 as Americans learned once again that government money is never actually free.

Other direct payment proposals from Trump have not become reality, including dividends financed through tariff revenue and savings generated by efforts to shrink the federal bureaucracy.

Still, the latest promise gives Republicans a potent campaign message as they fight to avoid the traditional losses suffered by a president’s party during midterm elections.

Trump also outlined a crowded legislative agenda for the next Congress.

His priorities included ending surprise medical bills, requiring hospital price transparency, reducing credit card processing fees, eliminating state cashless bail policies, and authorizing the death penalty for major drug traffickers.

The president renewed his call for national voter ID requirements and pledged to expand domestic energy production.

He also wants Congress to make permanent his tax cuts for tips, overtime, and Social Security income while preventing future presidents from restoring the lax border policies associated with the Biden administration.

“Your vote will decide whether our country stumbles at the starting gate of the next 250 years or surges forward and never ever looks back,” Trump told the crowd.

He warned that a Democratic Congress would block his program, dismantle border protections, erase tax cuts, and bury the administration under partisan investigations.

Foreign policy also entered the pitch, with Trump arguing that Tehran is prolonging the Iran conflict while hoping Republicans lose.

He said Iran wants to negotiate with “dumb, weak Democrats” and predicted that the war would end shortly after the election, sending oil and gasoline prices sharply lower.

Trump promised to campaign in every state featuring competitive House or Senate races, with particular attention on the 35 most contested House districts.

His mission, he said, is to drive away the “sick cloud” of communism represented by socialist Democrats who scored several surprising primary victories.

The president aimed some of his sharpest attacks at Democratic Senate candidates James Talarico in Texas, Abdul El Sayed in Michigan, and Roy Cooper in North Carolina.

He labeled El Sayed an “extremist” and mocked Talarico over a vegetarian campaign called “beat meat,” telling the laughing arena, “I don’t know what the hell he meant by that.”

The convention included several unexpected moments, including a video appearance by Democratic Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman.

He denounced “the extremes and socialism and that anti-American way of life” while praising Republican Sen. Dave McCormick, adding fresh fuel to speculation about whether Fetterman could eventually abandon the increasingly radical Democratic Party.

UFC fighter Justin Gaethje also rallied the crowd, warning that “Your next fight is the only one that matters.”

Republican candidates, cabinet officials, athletes, and rising party figures used the event to reinforce Trump’s message that complacency could hand Congress back to Democrats.

The political stakes are substantial for Trump, who watched Republicans lose 41 House seats during the midterm election of his first term.

Democrats have openly promised to obstruct his administration, launch investigations, and potentially pursue impeachment if they regain control, proving that their governing agenda still begins and ends with Trump.

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer captured the convention’s central argument by calling the election a contest “between common sense and communism, between America-loving patriots and hate-America extremists.”

WATCH:

Trump’s message was just as blunt: Vote Republican, protect the gains of his presidency, and give him the congressional majority needed to complete the job.
