Father Dan Reehil, a Catholic priest and diocesan exorcist in Tennessee, sharply criticized the public support shown for Lindsay Clancy during a recent homily, questioning why large numbers of women rallied outside a Massachusetts courthouse during Clancy’s trial, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.

Reehil, pastor of St. Catherine of Siena in Columbia, Tennessee, and an exorcist for the Diocese of Nashville, addressed the case during his homily for the 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time.

“Let me tell you, this Lindsay Clancy debacle, there is no universe that exists where a man would kill 3 of his children and be going to the courthouse and hundreds of men would show up to rally behind him. That world doesn’t exist,” Reehil said.

“But somehow there’s women out there that think this is a good thing. So now we are promoting killing children outside the womb. Is this not crazy. This is crazy.”

Reehil acknowledged the mental-health issues that were central to Clancy’s defense while arguing that those circumstances did not eliminate the seriousness of what happened.

“Yes, I understand she was on all these drugs and all the other things. Seek help. You’re a grown woman. This is a catastrophe that one, that this thing happened at all, and we should pray for her. I think she has demons, to be honest. But these women that are behind her—insanity is reigning in many places,” Reehil said.

He then directed his comments toward men who may be dating women who publicly support Clancy.

“If you’re dating a woman right now who is a supporter of this woman who killed her children, cut bait and run for your life. Because one day you’ll be having kids with her, and she thinks this is okay. I’m serious. That’s a big impediment for me in a marriage.”

Catholic priest Father Dan Reehil delivered a blistering rebuke of the women publicly rallying behind Lindsay Clancy.

Then came his blunt advice for unmarried men: “If you’re dating a woman right now who is a supporter of this woman who killed her children, cut bait and run for…

Reehil’s remarks came after a large demonstration outside Plymouth Superior Court in Massachusetts drew hundreds of Clancy supporters.

The August 20 rally included approximately 300 women and a smaller number of men, according to reports. Many participants wore pink shirts carrying messages including “Believe,” “She Needed Help,” and “Peace For Lindsay.”

The demonstrators said their focus was on maternal mental health and concerns about how women experiencing severe mental-health problems are treated by the medical system.

Some participants also expressed support for Clancy personally.

Rally organizer Renee Kimball urged those attending to support Clancy and said the demonstration was intended to raise awareness about women dealing with mental-health challenges.

Another participant, April Vincent, said, “Women are being dismissed, neglected and ignored when we speak up.”

The rally included a period of silence, prayer and gestures of solidarity. Supporters formed a circle and recited the Lord’s Prayer before holding their arms up and forming hearts with their hands.

Some participants brought children with them.

Clancy, a Massachusetts mother and former labor-and-delivery nurse, faced three murder charges stemming from the January 2023 deaths of her three children.

Her defense acknowledged that she was responsible for their deaths but argued that she should not be held criminally responsible because of severe mental illness, including postpartum psychosis and bipolar disorder.

The case became a national discussion about postpartum mental health, medical treatment, and criminal responsibility.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys presented sharply different accounts of Clancy’s mental state and the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

After seven days of jury deliberations, the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict, and a judge declared a mistrial on September 4. Prosecutors have not yet announced whether they will seek a retrial.

The mistrial came after a closely watched trial that attracted considerable attention online and outside the courthouse.

Supporters continued to emphasize Clancy’s alleged mental-health struggles, while critics questioned the public demonstrations on her behalf.

Reehil’s comments focused on that divide. He said people should pray for Clancy while also maintaining that the deaths of her children should not be minimized because of questions surrounding her mental health or treatment.

The priest also said he believed spiritual factors were involved in the case, stating during his homily that he thought Clancy had demons.

That assertion represents Reehil’s personal religious belief rather than an established finding in the criminal proceedings.

The public debate surrounding Clancy is likely to continue as prosecutors consider the next legal steps following the mistrial.

Meanwhile, the demonstrations outside the courthouse and Reehil’s criticism have added another layer to a case that has already generated significant discussion about mental health, accountability and the role of public sympathy in high-profile criminal proceedings.
