I don’t like identity politics. I don’t think the world should be viewed through the lens of people being seen not as individuals, but as groups they have some kind of affiliation with in a single regard. The left has made this a central part of its beliefs and expects the rest of us to fall in line. Straight white men are the last legitimate target of bigotry.
Well, besides the Jews, apparently.
Since the October 7th attacks by Hamas on Israel, we’ve seen a lot of antisemitism. I’ve written an awful lot about how many Jewish people were buying guns out of fear they’ll be attacked because of their faith.
Yehuda Remer isn’t one of those Jews. Known on the internet as The Pew Pew Jew, Remer is a legitimate social media force and a friend.
Because he’s my friend, I have to speak out about something that he posted on Instagram earlier this week.
When conventions take place, many things happen behind the scenes that people don’t see. Issues arise, and it’s up to the event staff to ensure that whatever the issue is is quickly rectified.
Something happened at @goals_con that I feel I should talk about publicly.
As many of you are aware, @gunownersofamerica asked me to do a book reading at their Kids Zone. I immediately said yes and was excited to educate kids on the Second Amendment.
GOA, on their Goals_Con Instagram account, posted a graphic of me inviting everyone who was going to attend to bring their children and listen to Story Time with The Pew Pew Jew.The backlash against GOA was fast and furious. The comments under the post were quickly filled with vile antisemitic comments. As of writing this, there are 341 comments, and an overwhelming majority are disgusting.
GOA saw the comments and was disgusted. They were also nervous. So, they quickly took action. They first sat down with me to discuss what we should do and whether they should take the post down. I informed them that they can do what’s best for GOA. If they didn’t want to deal with all the comments, they are more than welcome to take it down. But if they decided to keep it up, then I will back it because I believe in the 1st Amendment.
The second thing they did was
immediately take precautions. While none of us were truly worried, we have seen political violence rise in the last few years. GOA assigned an armed guard, standing near me, during story time, to ensure that I would remain safe. Thankfully, nothing occurred, and the story time was a big success. With all that said, I want to publicly thank GOA for their immediate reaction to the situation (where, once again, although there was no real threat, they didn’t want to take a chance) to ensure that I was safe. It means a lot to have the backing of GOA and their support.
To the staff members of GOA who took action swiftly, I truly mean this: thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your organization is top tier, and I am proud to be not just a card-carrying member of GOA, but someone who works with them.
I very much look forward to our continuing partnerships and work
I’m ticked, folks.
I’m not going to play any games here; I’m angry because some mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging cretins wanted to make threats toward my friend, one of the staunchest gun rights advocates I know, and did so while he was at a Second Amendment event. He was taking his time to read aloud from a book he wrote in an effort to help spread the Second Amendment message to kids, and some people out there decided that was the time to make threats and to engage in the most vile, disgusting behavior imaginable.
Shame on everyone who joined in.
I don’t play identity politics, and people need to understand that antisemitism is still identity politics. The Klan is just as engaged in identity politics as the most woke campus group that expects us to give land acknowledgements and for everyone to judge the world through the oppression lens. Horseshoe theory is a thing, and it’s real.
But this isn’t just some vague harsh words directed at someone I know nothing about. These were directed toward my friend.
I’d like to believe that no one who reads my work was among those talking that kind of crap. I’d love to believe it was just anti-gunners who latched onto Yehuda’s identity as a Jew and got nasty.
I’d like to, but that’s an assumption I will not make because I’ve seen too much of the dark side of our movement.
If any of those are reading this, do better. Be better.
For the rest, I want to note that it’s up to us to police our own. We need to call these people out when they do this sort of thing. We need to shame them into silence, at a minimum, and we need to make it clear that if the anti-gunners want to make common cause with people who have Nazi tattoos, that’s on them, but we aren’t that kind of crowd.
Yehuda, my friend, I’ve got your back. Here, it’s in words. When we’re in the same space, it will always be more than that.
Editor’s Note: The radical Left will stop at nothing to enact their radical gun control agenda and strip us of our Second Amendment rights.
