Catholic Bishops Just Walked Into The AR-15 Ban Fight

The video argues that the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops filed an amicus brief in a Supreme Court case over AR-15 and similar semiautomatic rifle bans in Cook County, Illinois, and Connecticut, while claiming neutrality. The speaker criticizes the bishops as hypocritical because they support broader firearm regulation while their own institution benefits from armed protection, and he frames their position as an attempt to let elected officials decide which guns remain protected. He also argues that the bishops’ logic would undermine Second Amendment protections for commonly owned firearms by treating popularity as irrelevant and by inviting future political bans. The video concludes that the core issue is whether constitutional gun rights depend on changing majorities or remain fixed unless the Constitution is amended.
