If gun control works, as anti-gunners repeatedly claim, then the lack of gun control should lead to predictable results. In fact, anti-gunners make this case every time they lose. They do the whole “the streets will run red with blood” bit on social media, screaming to high heavens that this is a disaster and innocent people will die.

And they trot out the studies to “prove” this is the case. Pretty much every bit of research out of academia backs up their claims.

The problem is that the real world isn’t the same as the one created by biased researchers. How do we know this?

A simple comparison highlights this beautifully.

A report from the Major Cities Chiefs Association shows that gun-controlled Chicago has more murders thus far this year than all major cities in pro-gun Florida combined.

The report was released August 5, 2026, at which time it indicated Chicago had 211 murders for the year.

By contrast, Florida’s major cities–Miami, Orlando, and Tampa–had a combined 29 murders during the same time frame.

Specifically: Eight murders in Miami, ten murders in Orlando, and eleven murders in Tampa.

It’s not just homicides where we see the difference. There were 2,168 robberies in Chicago. There were just 385 in Miami, Orlando, and Tampa, put together.

While Illinois has continued its anti-gun jihad, Florida has moved toward becoming more and more pro-gun. Sure, there’s still a lot of work left to do in the Sunshine State, but the numbers speak for themselves.

Granted, there is a population difference, but Chicago has a bit over twice as many people as the three Florida cities combined, but those three cities have about 13 percent of the homicides and nearly 18 percent of the robberies. That means the population difference alone doesn’t account for jack squat. The actual per capita rates make it pretty damn clear that gun control isn’t keeping people safer in Chicago, while a lack of it sure doesn’t seem to be making life less safe in Florida.

Weird, isn’t it?

Every study tells us this won’t happen. Every anti-gunner screams that it won’t happen. They both claim that the opposite will transpire. They said it after Bruen. They’ve said it following every state embracing constitutional carry, which Florida has. They’ve claimed it time and time again with every setback for their side, and they never let go of it.

But the real world sure seems to tell us a very different story, doesn’t it? The real world sees these changes and, at a minimum, doesn’t blink. The absolute best-case scenario for anti-gunners is that pro-gun victories don’t actually make anyone safer; they just don’t make anything more dangerous, either.

That’s still terrible news for them, because their every demand is predicated on reducing violence. It’s predicated on saving lives, and here we are, looking at pretty clear evidence that it doesn’t work that way.

And do you know what difference it will make?

None. They’ll pretend this is because of literally anything else while ignoring the role gun laws, or the lack thereof, actually played. They’ll keep parroting their talking points and ignore the real-world results right in front of their eyes.
