Guns.com has a lot of news on it, but it’s really a firearm sales platform, which is great. More places to find more guns for you to buy, even if you have to transfer them through your local FFL. But what if you want to sell a gun? For common ones, your local dealer probably knows the value, but what if it’s something that’s a little oddball for your neck of the woods? They might be a little stumped.
Which is why I started off by talking about Guns.com.
See, while you could theoretically look at what they’re selling something for, that might not handle all of a small store’s needs. They need more than a search engine, and it seems the company has a new technology platform meant to do just that.

Now, it’s possible that the downside of this will be that some of those stupidly good deals folks stumble across from time to time will disappear. Those are often the result of someone not knowing the value of a gun and underselling it. Some might stick around, such as those on consignment, or just a really good sale, but a lot of them will probably vanish.
But for a lot of gun stores, this is good news. It’ll let them maximize their profit, and it’ll also allow them to offer a good price on used guns that will let the seller get the most they can, the store make the most they can, and have everyone ultimately come out ahead.
It’ll also minimize stores trying to sell oddball guns for stupidly high prices because they think it’s rare or something. I’ve seen that a time or two, and it’s hard not to roll my eyes when I find it.
We’ll have to see what the long-term impact of this on the industry will be, but I think it’s going to be pretty good overall.
