Braden Peters, better known as “Clavicular”, could see a misdemeanor charge of discharge of a firearm in public wiped off his record thanks to a deal his attorneys have worked out with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office.

Peters was charged after a livestream showed him and a second influencer shooting at what appeared to be an alligator carcass in the Everglades Wildlife Management Area back in March, but People reports that he agreed to plead no contest to the charge on Friday in exchange for a pretty sweet deal.

During a May 15 court appearance, Peters pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor charge and reached a resolution with prosecutors, receiving a withhold of adjudication with the conditions of six months of probation, 20 hours of community service, and the mandatory completion of a firearms safety course and a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission course, a Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office representative told PEOPLE.

Peters cannot livestream or monetize his community service time, an attorney’s office representative added.

Would someone who doesn’t have the social media following that Peters has receive the same time of deal? I have my doubts, and honestly, if I were the State’s Attorney I would have required Peters to livestream his attendance at the firearms safety course, with the money earned going towards conservation efforts. Like it or not, Peters has a sizable audience, and I’m sure that some of them could benefit from learning the basics of gun safety.

Peters isn’t someone I’d consider to be a good role model, but he does have considerable sway over a significant number of young men. Streaming a gun safety course, even one taken under court order instead of his own accord, would give his audience the opportunity to learn how to be safe and responsible with a firearm. That info isn’t likely to be imparted by Peters on his own, and I think prosecutors missed a golden opportunity by insisting this remain off-camera.

I’d also like to know more about the conditions of the six months of probation that Peters received in exchange for his no-contest plea. Does that include regular drug tests, for instance? Peters was caught on camera in the throes of what appeared to be an overdose in mid-April, and told his followers afterwards that he needed to stop using “substances for a little while, hopefully forever.”

Peters is also still facing misdemeanor battery charges in Florida, though I suspect that case too will be resolved without any jail time imposed on him.

I know that Peters earns scads of cash from his livestreams, but money doesn’t matter much if you ruin your life in the meantime. Peters is a tragic figure, despite the trappings of success, and maybe this will be a wake up call for him.

I hope that Peters can grow up a little, put away the meth, stop hitting himself in the face with a hammer as part of his “lookmaxxing” routine, and ultimately, learn to be happy with himself and comfortable in his own skin. I don’t know if learning the basics of gun safety will help him do any of those things, but it certainly can’t hurt.
