About Last Night, or Teenage Perversity in Chicago

Give Chicago some credit. Their complete breakdown of public order under a socialist mayor hasn’t targeted the Jews, as has begun in New York City. At least … not yet.

Instead, the wilding on Brandon Johnson’s watch has targeted police. Fox’s Chicago affiliate reported yesterday on two street takeovers within days of each other in the city, but the first one, a week ago, includes some stunning footage. When a police car rolled up on the scene, a 19-year-old slammed into it and pushed it out of the way as other teens continued the “street takeover,” a phenomenon that is growing in the Windy City:

CPD said officers arrested 19-year-old Maximum Wyderski from Crestwood, who is facing misdemeanor charges of reckless driving, fleeing/attempting elude officers as well as nine vehicle citations, including ones for fireworks and open container. A video Fox Chicago obtained shows a car hitting and ramming a Chicago Police car down the street as several people are running up to them, cheering and recording the incident.

Ald. Peter Chico (10th Ward) also confirmed a second street takeover happened took last Friday night in Hegewisch around 10:00 p.m. near E. 130th and S. Torrence Ave.

You see some dressed in black, with their faces covered, hitting the CPD car as it’s moving, and some are flipping off the officers in the car, while others are recording the incident on their phones. Fox Chicago has also reached out to find out if anyone was arrested during this incident. We’re waiting to hear back.

For what it’s worth, Wyderski claims he wasn’t the perp:

Wyderski told Fox News Digital he was watching the street takeover, not participating, when his car’s battery died. While trying to wave down police for help, he said an officer accused him of being involved. He denied being the driver of the car seen ramming a police vehicle.

“The second cop, he pulls right behind me, gets out of his car, and tells me to ‘get the f— out,’ put my hands up, and then he arrests me. And then he said that I was a part of an alleged street takeover and then charged me with all that,” Wyderski said.

Wyderski should be assumed innocent until proven guilty, of course. Presumably, the police dash cam got a pretty good look at the car and the driver who shoved the squad down the street, and the cars should have matching damage. If not, Wyderski may have a good defense on reckless driving … but probably not on the open-container charge.

Wyderski isn’t the problem in Chicago, however. Brandon Johnson and his socialist administration are the problem. Johnson has made his hostility toward law enforcement well-known during his tenure. Last September, Johnson declared that “law enforcement is a sickness,” and promised to “eradicate” it as well as any consequences for lawbreaking in his domain. Nor were Johnson’s thoughts on those matters much of a secret before his election. As I wrote at the time, Chicagoans and Illinois voters are getting the kind of leadership they chose, good and hard.

One state representative has had enough, but Susana Mendoza is a lonely voice in the Illinois wilderness thus far:

CPD deserves better. This brazen attack on our @Chicago_Police officers calls for license revocation, car impounding, arrests, maximum fines – actual consequences. @ChicagosMayor, if you won’t lead, get out of the way and let the police do their jobs.#consequences… https://t.co/KYjvlUjUHv

Before Chicago can impose these penalties, it has to impose order on its chaotic streets. As long as Johnson remains mayor, that won’t happen, because the police have to be empowered to enforce the law. Chicago voters elected someone who thinks law enforcement is the sickness, rather than the crime and the wilding. Perhaps Chicago voters need to make better choices… or perhaps the capital remaining in Chicago needs to relocate to jurisdictions where wilding teens and gangsters face actual consequences.

Note: The headline references a David Mamet play, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, which got turned into a Demi Moore-Rob Lowe film retitled About Last Night. Talk about teenage takeovers …
