President Donald Trump met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the White House last Tuesday during a scheduled diplomatic visit in Washington, D.C.

The meeting included discussions on regional stability, U.S.–Saudi counterterrorism cooperation, and ongoing negotiations involving Gaza reconstruction, as reported by  The Gateway Pundit.

The crown prince toured the White House, attended a formal dinner, and participated in bilateral talks as part of the visit.

Reaction on Capitol Hill quickly followed the meeting.

Sen. Adam Schiff of California released a video in which he criticized the president and raised concerns about U.S. relations with Saudi Arabia.

Schiff referenced Saudi Arabia’s human-rights record and the 2018 murder of Jamal Khashoggi. He accused Trump of “defending” the crown prince and said Trump disregarded U.S. intelligence assessments.

Schiff also repeated issues he has raised in previous years, including comments about the 2018 Helsinki press conference, assertions that Trump “sided with Putin,” and references to the Mueller investigation.

The Mueller report did not establish evidence of collusion. Schiff additionally suggested Trump’s approach toward Saudi Arabia was influenced by “crypto deals” and “real estate projects,” without providing supporting evidence.

The senator did not note that the Biden administration also maintained close cooperation with Saudi Arabia throughout its four-year term.

Those interactions included high-level meetings, arms negotiations, and diplomatic coordination. The U.S.–Saudi partnership has been maintained by multiple administrations in both parties.

According to the White House, Trump’s meetings with the crown prince last Tuesday focused on the status of Gaza ceasefire discussions, global energy issues, and national-security concerns involving the region.

The president held the talks at the Oval Office as part of regular engagement with foreign leaders visiting Washington.

Schiff delivered his remarks from the Senate, offering additional criticism about Trump’s foreign-policy positions. His comments came as the administration continued diplomatic efforts in the Middle East.

The meeting between Trump and the crown prince concluded with scheduled events at the White House, while discussions about U.S.–Saudi policy continued among members of Congress.
