Attorney General Pam Bondi on Tuesday rejected claims made in a new lawsuit filed by a former immigration judge who alleges she was wrongfully dismissed, as reported by Fox News.

The lawsuit marks the first legal challenge to the Trump administration’s removal of more than 100 immigration judges this year as part of its broader restructuring of the immigration court system.

Former Ohio immigration judge Tania Nemer filed the suit Monday, accusing the Justice Department of discrimination based on sex, national origin, and political affiliation.

The complaint also alleges violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and First Amendment protections tied to political activity.

Bondi addressed the lawsuit during a White House Cabinet meeting with President Donald Trump. She highlighted the department’s actions on violent crime and drug trafficking while dismissing the basis of Nemer’s claims.

“Most recently, yesterday, I was sued by an immigration judge who we fired,” Bondi said. “One of the reasons she said she was a woman.” Bondi added:

“Last I checked, I was a woman as well.”

Nemer’s removal is among many under the Trump administration, which has reshaped the immigration judiciary amid ongoing legal battles surrounding border enforcement.

According to the American Immigration Lawyers Association, at least 100 immigration judges have been fired or “pushed out” since January.

The New York Times reported this week that eight judges in New York City were dismissed on Monday, raising questions about staffing levels and the system’s ability to handle its caseload.

Muzaffar Chishti, a senior fellow at the Migration Policy Institute and director of its office at NYU Law School, told Fox News Digital that the changes have raised concerns.

“I think what’s happening in the immigration court system is very troubling,” he said.

“People have always had doubts about the independence of the [immigration] court system.”

He added that recent events “have eroded trust completely in the Executive Office for Immigration Review” and could discourage qualified candidates from applying.

The Justice Department did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on Nemer’s case or the broader removals reported by the Times and the immigration lawyers association.

Bondi noted that the lawsuit is one of hundreds directed at the administration’s agenda. “We have been sued 575 times,” she told Trump and Cabinet members. “More than every administration going back to Reagan combined.”

She also pointed to the administration’s record at the Supreme Court. “Twenty-four Supreme Court wins, President Trump,” she said.

“A 92% success rate.”

Many of those rulings came through the emergency docket, which has allowed the administration to move forward with several significant policy actions, including halting DEI funding, enforcing the ban on transgender military service, cutting Education Department grants and removing certain federal board members.

“We’re winning nationwide injunctions, ending DEI funding, [and] working to secure that our federal workforce is aligned with your America First agenda, representing pretty much everyone in this room,” Bondi said.
