WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • Alan Ritchson claimed studios have repeatedly urged him to stop discussing politics publicly.
  • The “Reacher” star referenced Sony during a Fan Expo Canada panel and stopped himself from delivering another political rant.
  • Ritchson suggested Amazon Prime Video rejected a White supremacist storyline after President Donald Trump returned to office.
  • Christian Toto accused Ritchson of personally sabotaging his projects and potentially alienating audiences.

“Reacher” star Alan Ritchson claims production studios have urged him to stop discussing politics publicly after his outspoken commentary attracted attention, as reported by Fox News.

He described the alleged warnings while appearing at a Fan Expo Canada panel earlier this month.

The Christian Post reported that Ritchson joked about receiving phone calls from studios asking him to keep quiet. He framed the calls as a reaction to his public remarks.

“You know how many phone calls I get from studios like, ‘Would you shut the f— up, please? Stop talking in public,’”

Ritchson then said that creating disorder was not his objective. “I mean, but it’s not chaos I’m after.”

He began to explain what he wanted before cutting himself off and invoking his political commentary. “It’s actually the opposite of chaos. I’d like a little; I’m not going to get into it.”

Ritchson continued with a warning about the kind of commentary he could deliver. “You don’t want to see my rants starring these g—— f—— politicians everywhere.”

The actor then referenced Sony while insisting he would refrain from saying more. “I’m not going to do it. Sony told me not to.”

“And I’m not going to say anything. Not today.”

“Not today, [Jeffrey] Epstein.”

The audience cheered the comments, according to the report. Ritchson gave the moderators a fist bump and declared, “Pedos win.”

Ritchson also claimed that Amazon Prime Video rejected a proposed “Reacher” storyline involving White supremacists.

He suggested that the decision reflected the political climate surrounding President Donald Trump’s return to office.

The claim came in a Threads exchange last week with a fan who was disappointed that the series would not adapt a particular book.

The fan described a story in which Jack Reacher “kills his way through a White supremacist militia camp.”

Ritchson said he had also pushed for an adaptation of that book but was turned down. He tied the rejection to an election result without naming Trump directly in the comment.

“My favorite book. Fun fact: I had it approved until someone got re-elected,” Ritchson wrote.

Fox News Digital contacted Sony and Amazon Prime Video for comment. The source article did not include responses from either company.

Ritchson, who has professed to be a Christian, has previously criticized conservative Christians over their support for Republicans.

During an April 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he targeted Christian supporters of Trump.

“Trump is a rapist and a con man, and yet the entire Christian church seems to treat him like he’s their poster child, and it’s unreal. I don’t understand it,” Ritchson said.

One month after that interview, Ritchson said he had been “met with violence” for expressing those and other views. He connected that reaction with what he described as the Christian ethic of generosity.

“If you want to see violence flee the world, be more generous to everybody! That is the Christian ethic!”

“That is what I don’t see happening. And when I speak up about it in my own ways, I’m met with violence,” Ritchson said.

Christian Toto of Hollywood in Toto offered a sharply critical assessment in a comment to Fox News Digital. He said Ritchson was “doing all he can to personally sabotage” the projects he leads.

“The actor’s political rants are even worse than what Robert De Niro says on a given day. It’s hysterical blather, and his ‘Reacher’ fans are noticing,” Toto said.

Toto questioned why Ritchson would not follow the studios’ alleged requests to avoid political speeches.

He also asked whether those conversations had actually occurred and whether other studios similarly tell stars to avoid political commentary during interviews.

The critic further questioned whether Ritchson appreciated the opportunity to headline major motion pictures.

Toto argued that fame can be fleeting and suggested audiences could be alienated by what he called the actor’s “unhinged rhetoric.”
