The U.S. Mint has unveiled new designs in celebration of America’s Semiquincentennial anniversary.
The coins feature eagles, pilgrims, George Washington. They do not emphasize women’s suffrage or the civil rights movement, as the initial Biden-era designs reportedly did. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent scrapped those plans, Fox News reports, after the Trump administration found they “did not feature a single Founding Father but instead emphasized diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) themes.” Though the U.S. Mint never publicly released photos of those designs, Fox News claims to have obtained exclusive photos of the scrapped Biden-era coins.
