I tell you what – it has been a terrific week for confidence building in the competence of the shiny new Andy Burnham Labour government, hasn’t it?
I knew you’d feel the same.
The RAF Fairford follies have continued their stride into absurdity today, as you’ve no doubt caught up with thanks to John’s earlier post.
The Prime Minister is all sincerity, pointing fingers at the mullahs, who are wagging fingers back, and the question on everyone’s minds today is, ‘If this is now TRUE, VURT DA FURK, are these guys doing out running around on bail?‘
No worries, says the Prime Minister. Those lads are on double-double secret probation.
WHOA
Bet those newbs never saw THAT coming.
…Burnham was also asked why the men were bailed given the apparent severity of the incident. US President Donald Trump has criticized the decision to release the men. The prime minister suggested the men had not been released under bail typical conditions.
“I think people need to understand that, you know, when it says ‘released,’ that isn’t as people might think. It’s obviously with the strictest possible bail conditions.”
Pressed on whether they had been released, Burnham said: “The authorities have this under, as I say, the strongest grip and the closest control, and I can assure you of that.”
RELAX – THE BRITISH GOT THIS STRONG GRIP THINGEE
Anyone worried yet?
They should be.
You know who’s worried? The dumb prince and his stupid wife, or at least they were, the second they sensed an opening in the middle of a ridiculous public spat over their privacy while trying to force the government to pay for security. Bets were on they’d hustle to make a terrorist attack on an RAF base all about them.
What time can we expect Harry and Meghan to appear and start screaming for taxpayer backed security due to RAF Fairford being near their home.
She’ll be boiling up some RAF inspired strawberry spread right now to cash in too.

Yes…yes…the Harkles went there.

The Cotswolds can handle terrorist threats, as you could plainly see Sunday night when the alarm was raised by the lady farmer.
What they can’t handle is the Harkles.
But that’s too bad for them. We’re not taking her back.
She’s yours now. You keep her. https://t.co/1HV3G5AGTk pic.twitter.com/s6Z6izYluJ

In other Burnham news, which seems to be pretty important, I believe the slippery little devil is fixing to pull ‘The Old Magoo‘ on the gentle people of Makerfield, without whose votes he would not be in the position he is now.
The ‘Old Magoo‘ refers to a scene in the movie Christmas in Connecticut where one sailor in the hospital, after being rescued at sea, enlightens his raftmate how it is that he’s eating like a prince while the raftmate is being fed invalid gruel.
…This means:
The act of pretending that you plan to marry your nurse in order to trick her into feeding you steak.
Morgan holds off until his diet reaches that one bowl of oatmeal too far, and his stomach forces him to finally pull the ‘old Magoo’ on Mary, his nurse.
He is eating at last.
Shipmate Sinkewitz assures him that ‘The old Magoo got you in, and the old Magoo will get you out.‘
You lie your way into a full plate and lie your way out of the engagement afterward – the Old Magoo.
To get elected in Makerfield, Burnham seems to have pulled the British version of that, as he promised those good people he believed Brexit had been decided when it was voted on. A done deal.
And now that he’s Prime Minister and no longer beholden to Makerfield…well. Let’s just say he no longer feels encumbered by any onerous promises that run contrary to his natural inclinations.
Makerfield electorate, over to you at the next election. You were lied to! Remember this!

What happened to ‘I respect their decision’? Democracy, even?
…Now, having promised to respect Brexit when campaigning in a heavily Leave-voting constituency, Burnham struck a very different chord this week when addressing the EU-obsessed Labour Party faithful in Liverpool. The UK prime minister namechecked ‘Brexit’ as one of the five great ills of our age, alongside ‘Deindustrialisation. Deregulation. Privatisation. Austerity.’ And he promised that, come the next UK-EU summit, he would lay out all the possible options for Britain’s long-term future with Europe – which range from rejoining the Customs Union or the Single Market to rejoining the EU in full.
Any respect he may have had for the people of Makerfield or for their democratically expressed wishes was clearly short-lived. Here was the most powerful man in the country promising to put their votes in the shredder, and to deny them the right – in perpetuity – to have any kind of say on some of the most significant matters affecting the country.
Make no mistake, rejoining the EU – or any of its institutions – means taking crucial political questions out of democratic contestation. Control over immigration, energy, the environment, agriculture and industry, to name but a few, would no longer be held by Britain’s elected governments or MPs. Rules and laws would instead be imposed by the unelected apparatchiks in Brussels, or bound up in unchangeable, unchallengeable treaties.
All of which gives the lie to the notion that Burnham is some sort of radical, breaking with decades of ‘neoliberal’ consensus. On the contrary, he wants to reverse the public’s genuinely radical decision to overthrow the shackles of the globalist order. Brexit voters wanted to restore democratic control over our institutions and policies. Andy wants to restore the rule of the unelected technocrats.
Buh-bye, Makerfield
Hard on the heels of the risible Keir Starmer’s unlamented departure, Andy Burnham is burnishing Labour’s reputation for bollocks.

As if to emphasize how very much the Labour hierarchy despises the native British it must contend with, because wanting to be European isn’t bad enough, one of Burnham’s Labour ministers came out recently and struck a brutal blow at the very heart of all things British.
This appalling woman named Jenny Riddell-Carpenter, who is inexplicably the ‘nature minister,’ says what people long for and remember lovingly about Britain is all a ‘far-Right fantasy.’
The vision of rural Britain featuring “warm ale and a black labrador by your feet” is a “far-right fantasy that doesn’t exist”, a minister has claimed.
Jenny Riddell-Carpenter, the nature minister, said she was kept “awake at night” by fears that the next election would be fought over competing visions of rural Britain.
She warned that unless Labour set out its own case for the countryside, its opponents would exploit a nostalgic image of rural life.
It ‘keeps her awake at night’ worrying about it.
…“And there’ll be the far right deciding and determining what that looks like.”
She added: “It’ll be a vision, a nostalgic vision of Britain, that never really existed. It’ll be that warm ale, a black labrador by your feet in a pub that doesn’t exist, and with symbolism of fox hunting all around them, it’ll be a very far-right nostalgic vision of Britain that we don’t want to have, [and] never really existed.”
Labs and pubs and fireplaces have ‘never really existed.’ It’s only the ‘far-Right’s’ fever dreams conjuring nostalgia up to seduce impressionable British voters.

The horror.
My friend Gray puts her lie to rest effortlessly…
British Labour is populated, by and large, by people who genuinely hate their own history, culture, people etc, even now the friendly labrador that greats you in the village public house https://t.co/TkVPdw70Dq

…but what a vile lie it is.
I take especial exception to the slur against the greatest dog breed ever, having been privileged to be Mum to three of those magnificent, intelligent, empathetic creatures over the years. As major dad has always said, any one of ours ‘could fly the space shuttle.‘
And they are quintessentially a piece of the British picture.
Labour hates them. And warm ale.
They been trying to destroy the pubs since Starmer got in office, so there’s no supposition involved there.
And now Burnham is publicly endorsing undoing the will of the British people to reenter the European sovereignty death cult.
It’s as if Labour has no idea…
In Yorkshire, they christen puppies in the pub and tell them not to chase after livestock.
But this is a far right fantasy that definitely never happens. https://t.co/4Q65a4ydtw pic.twitter.com/pyFrehEH9Y

…what country they’re actually in.
They only know they can’t stand it.
