Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson faced a hostile reaction from fans in Florida after mocking a “USA” chant during a performance on the band’s “Southern Hospitality Tour.”

As Page Six reported, the incident occurred Sunday night in Tampa as the group prepared to perform “She Talks to Angels.”

According to TMZ, fans began chanting “USA” after an image of the band’s black crow mascot dressed as Uncle Sam appeared on the screen behind the stage.

The chant reportedly started when a screen displayed the band’s crow mascot dressed as Uncle Sam. Before launching into “She Talks to Angels,” Chris responded:… pic.twitter.com/dUUXuqNZ07— Rock Feed (@RockFeedNet) June 2, 2026

At first, Robinson, 59, responded with apparent sarcasm, thanking the audience for what he called a “geography lesson.”

As the chant continued, the singer’s irritation appeared to grow, and he reportedly fired back with, “I don’t know what you have to be so proud of right now.”

That remark drew immediate boos from the crowd, with some concertgoers walking out in protest.

Footage obtained by TMZ captured Robinson doubling down on his comments as the crowd thinned out.

“Some of us have real faith,” he said from the stage, before adding, “For those of you f–king booing us, some of us are not afraid. And we most assuredly are not f–king ignorant.”

Audience members shared their frustration online soon after the show ended.

One X user who identified as a US veteran wrote, “US Veteran here. Bought tickets for my wife’s birthday in Tampa. Chris Robinson mocked the USA chanters… We walked out disappointed. Hoping for a partial refund.”

Another longtime fan posted, “So I’m at the black crowes concert in Tampa tonight… Chris Robinson basically just told Patriots to kiss his ass! Not kidding. This was my 12th Crowes concert since 87, I just dropped them like a hot iron. F–k you Chris!”

A third attendee echoed the sentiment, calling the exchange “the worst way possible” for the singer to handle things. They added, “It’s one thing if the fans are combative or disrupting your set, it’s another when fans are innocuously chanting USA.”

The Atlanta-born rocker, who cofounded the Black Crowes with his brother Rich Robinson in 1984, achieved stardom in the early 1990s through albums like “Shake Your Money Maker” and “The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion.”

After splitting in 2015, the band reunited in 2019 and is currently touring in support of their 10th studio album, “A Pound of Feathers.”

In a March interview with Mojo, Robinson insisted he was “not interested in politics,” telling the publication, “I’m more interested in poetry and art and people and experience.”

His words in Tampa, however, left many in the audience and online questioning that stance.
