Investigative journalist James O’Keefe said law enforcement officers confiscated firearms from his office in West Palm Beach, Florida, following a court-issued restraining order tied to an ongoing legal dispute, as reported by Fox News.
O’Keefe stated Thursday evening that police arrived at his O’Keefe Media Group office and seized all of his firearms. He shared the development in a post on X shortly after the incident.
“The police just came to my office and confiscated all my firearms. Just happened,” O’Keefe wrote.

The action follows a temporary restraining order issued in Miami-Dade County, described in court filings as related to a “domestic violence stalking” allegation. The order was sought by Matthew Tyrmand, a former member of the board at Project Veritas.

Earlier in the month, O’Keefe said he was served with the restraining order while livestreaming from his headquarters in West Palm Beach.
“Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department just served me with a domestic violence restraining order from Matthew Tyrmand. The former board member from Project Veritas who said he wants to murder me,” O’Keefe said.
O’Keefe disputed the claims behind the order and referenced statements he said Tyrmand made about him.
“Despite admitting multiple times on hidden camera wanting me dead, Matthew Tyrmand filed a restraining order against ME in Miami-Dade County,” O’Keefe said.

“Saying such things as: ‘I would kill him [O’Keefe]. Because he is one of the most evil people I’ve ever known,’” he added.
“He even shot up my book with rifle bullets through my heart on the cover. The audacity of evil has no bounds,” O’Keefe said.
The restraining order has triggered legal consequences, including the seizure of firearms, which can occur under certain court directives while such orders are in effect.
O’Keefe is the founder of Project Veritas, an organization known for undercover reporting. In February 2023, the Project Veritas board removed him as chairman following internal disputes. Since then, O’Keefe has been involved in efforts related to the organization while also launching a new venture, O’Keefe Media Group.
The new media company has expanded operations since its founding, according to O’Keefe, and continues to produce investigative content.
In February of this year, O’Keefe recorded an encounter with Tyrmand at a restaurant in Miami Beach. According to O’Keefe, the interaction included statements by Tyrmand that were captured on video. O’Keefe has referenced those statements as part of his response to the restraining order.
Law enforcement agencies have not released additional details about the seizure of firearms, and no further information about the scope of the restraining order or any upcoming court proceedings has been made public.
