Country Star Luke Bryan Warns He’ll ‘Knock the Sh*t Out of’ Online Trolls Bashing New Song [WATCH]

Luke Bryan is firing back after online critics targeted his latest song and accused the country star of relying on artificial intelligence to create it, as reported by Fox News.

During an appearance on the “This Past Weekend with Theo Von” podcast, the “American Idol” judge discussed the backlash surrounding “Fish Hunt Golf Drink.”

Bryan said the controversy grew from a narrative that started and spread across social media.

“That’s the crazy thing about where we’re at with social [media],” Bryan said. He explained that once a small number of users pushed the accusation, other people online began repeating it.

Bryan said the criticism went beyond whether listeners enjoyed the song or liked him as an artist.

Instead, he found himself being defined by an accusation that he had used artificial intelligence while creating and writing the track.

Theo Von said he did not think people genuinely believed Bryan had used artificial intelligence to make the song.

However, Bryan described the response as “pretty crazy” and recalled seeing users post videos directly expressing their hatred for him.

“And they’re like at a camera going, ‘I hate you.’ …” Bryan said.

“And they’re like at a camera going, ‘I hate you.’ … And I’m like, ‘I can see your face. If I see you one day, I’m going to f*cking knock the sh*t out of you, dude.’”

At the same time, Bryan acknowledged that many of the attacks appeared to be coming from teenagers.

That realization made him reconsider the situation, though he remained frustrated that young social media users were attacking his work and calling him a bad songwriter.

“It’s just so far out there,” he said while describing the online behavior.

“But then I’m like, ‘Well, wait.’ I’m not sure I’m happy about a bunch of teenagers telling a 50-year-old man he’s a piece of sh*t songwriter,” he said.

“And then I’m like, ‘Dude, you’re 16. You’re talking to a grown man who’s made a sh*t ton of money doing this.'”

“I’m like, if I caught my kids doing some stuff like that, I would kill them.”

Bryan had already responded to the artificial intelligence claims shortly after the song was released.

While speaking with NBC4 at the Memorial Pro-Am on June 3, he rejected the accusation and addressed the negative reaction.

“We’ve had some negativity out there,” Bryan said. He described the claims that artificial intelligence was used as completely false and explained that the song was intended to be lighthearted.

“That song was designed for one thing,” he added. “To have fun and tell the world what I love to do and what I strive to do.”

Songwriters Chase McGill and Matt Dragstrem also rejected the narrative during an interview with Rolling Stone. McGill defended Bryan directly, saying, “[Bryan] is the least artificial person I’ve ever met.”

McGill explained that his success in country music has come from spending time with friends in a room and enjoying the process of making up a song that day.

He said asking artificial intelligence to write a song would not give him the fulfillment he wants from songwriting.

According to McGill, the idea for “Fish Hunt Golf Drink” developed naturally while Bryan was texting a friend.

After the friend suggested they spend time together soon, Bryan answered with emojis representing a fish, a deer, a golf club, and a beer.

Bryan then told his friend to choose one of those activities before showing the exchange to McGill and Dragstrem. McGill recalled Bryan recognizing that the idea could become a cool song.

McGill said the concept reflected activities Bryan genuinely enjoys.

“The dude loves to have fun. He can outfish most people I know. He’s awesome in the woods. I hear he’s really good at golfing,” McGill said. “And the dude can drink pretty well.”
