Actor and podcast host Dax Shepard said he gave his wife, Kristen Bell, what he described as a “less-than-exciting Valentine’s Day” this year, admitting during his “Armchair Expert” podcast that his focus was on their daughters instead, as reported by Page Six.

Shepard, 51, made the comments during Monday’s “Fact Check” segment of the show, telling listeners he “definitely neglected” Bell on the holiday.

Here’s What They’re Not Telling You About Your Retirement

The “Parenthood” alum explained that he “went all out” for the couple’s daughters, Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 11.

“My girls are my Valentines. … All my resources went to the little ones,” Shepard said. He added that his mother, Laura Labo, was visiting at the time and also did not receive much attention.

“She’s been my Valentine for 51 years, so it really becomes a bandwidth [issue],” Shepard said.

According to Shepard, Bell, 45, and Labo “saw that [he] was spending a lot of energy on [his] other two Valentines,” including devoting “several hours” to a surprise.

“I know that my daughter loves floaties for the pool, so I got heart-shaped floaties and inflated them and put them in the pool,” Shepard said.

He also created handmade cards for both daughters.

“Additionally, Shepard ‘made each of them handmade cards where [he] really drew pictures and then wrote how [he feels] about them.’”

Shepard and Bell welcomed Lincoln in 2013 and Delta in 2014. In a previous interview, Shepard discussed their early family plans and said the couple had initially considered having only one child.

“We just thought it would be really helpful to make her a better person to have to deal with someone else … [and] live in the same room with another person and have to share everything,” Shepard said during an October 2022 appearance on the “Endless Honeymoon” podcast.

The couple has been together since 2007 and married in 2013. Bell, known for roles in television and film, has spoken publicly about their relationship over the years.

Last month, Bell’s “Burlesque” co-star Cher made remarks about Shepard during a January episode of Shepard and Monica Padman’s podcast. The singer, 79, agreed with a suggestion that Bell could do “better.”

“You must have something that I don’t see,” Cher said during the episode.

Bell responded by defending her husband, describing him as almost “too good” for her and a “slow burn.”

Shepard later addressed Cher’s comment in an interview with “Access Hollywood,” saying he was not offended and found the remark “hysterical.”

The Valentine’s Day admission came as Shepard reflected on family traditions and how he divides his attention among his wife, children, and other loved ones during holidays.
