YouTube Star Ms. Rachel Says “I Am Political” While Pushing to Close ICE Facility in Texas [WATCH]

YouTube personality Ms. Rachel, whose real name is Rachel Griffin Accurso, said she is embracing a political role as she works with activists and attorneys to shut down an immigration detention facility in Texas, as reported by The New York Post.

Accurso spoke with NBC News last week about her efforts involving the Dilley Immigration Processing Center in South Texas, where she said she has been contacting children held at the facility through video calls.

The center houses migrant families and operates under federal immigration authorities.

Accurso accused the facility of “neglect and child abuse” and said she is coordinating with lawyers and activists in an effort “to close Dilley and make sure that kids and their parents are back in their communities where they belong.”

“I see all children as precious and equal,” she said.

The children’s entertainer also addressed criticism over her growing involvement in political issues, stating that she accepts the label.

“I am political,” Accurso said. “It’s political to believe that children are worthy of love and care, and that every child is equal, and that our care shouldn’t stop at what we look like, our family, at our religion, at a border.”

Ms. Rachel is fighting to close an ICE facility in Texas that’s detaining children. She wants to “make sure that kids and their parents are back in their communities where they belong.”

CoreCivic, the private company that operates the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, responded to the allegations in a statement to Fox News Digital.

The company said it “understand[s] and share[s] the concern for the well-being of children” and emphasized that it provides “safe, humane, and compassionate care” for families held at the facility.

“Children have access to outdoor recreation areas, including a soccer field and playground, a library, educational materials, monitored childcare while parents attend legal proceedings, and much more,” CoreCivic spokesperson Ryan Gustin said.
