Rep. Jim Jordan discussed intelligence community actions tied to the 2016 election during an exchange with Greta Van Susteren, pointing to information he said was recently disclosed and raising questions about how the intelligence community assessment was shaped.
Van Susteren began by asking about the individuals involved.
“Jim Jordan joins me. Nice to see you sir. And who are these deep state, deep state actors?”
She continued, “Do you have names? I mean, shouldn’t we mean they’re going after the whistleblower and a general, but who’s doing this?”

Jordan responded by addressing the anonymous whistleblower and their role.
“Yeah, the anonymous whistle. So called Anonymous whistleblower, had had no firsthand knowledge,” he said.
He added, “He had actually was a partisan, had worked for Vice President Biden back at the time in 2019 when this all came public.”
Jordan then pointed to additional information he said came from Director Tulsi Gabbard.

“But what I think is new from from director Gabbard, is the fact that the person who helped him put the complaint together,” he said.
He continued, “This other person in the intelligence community, was also one of those key people, way back in December 2016 and January 2017 who changed the intelligence community assessment.”
Jordan said those actions occurred “along with John Brennan,” following a meeting “in the White House with President Obama, between Election Day 2016 and Inauguration Day 2017.”
He added, “This is something that we got from director Gabbard last summer when she declassified a report and gave that information to us.”
Jordan said, “I think that is the real takeaway here.”
He also stated, “Brennan is, again, the central figure in all this.”
Van Susteren pressed for more clarity about the individuals involved.
“All right, well, who is this other person?” she asked.
She continued, “Is this other person also referred to the Justice Department?”
Jordan responded that Brennan remained the key figure.
“Well, the key person to change it is the one we know, is John Brennan,” he said.
He added, “This other intelligence committee person who’s part of this complaint helped the anonymous whistleblower write the complaint.”
Jordan also said, “There that they’re also, I think, potentially, some some criminal wrongdoing there.”
He stated, “Brennan lied to us about it.”
“That’s what we referred him for,” Jordan said.
He explained, “He said one thing in the deposition, what Tulsi Gabbard had had declassified and released, said just the opposite.”
Van Susteren then questioned the pace of legal action.
“So what’s taking so long?” she asked.
She added, “I assume that a grand jury should be convened and grand jury should hear the evidence.”
Jordan responded that the process was underway.
“Yeah, so grand jury has been convened,” he said.
“My understanding, witnesses, cooperating witnesses, have been called,” Jordan added.
He noted, “That’s a call for the Justice Department.”
Jordan also referenced emails related to Brennan.
“One of the intelligence community folks told Mr. Brennan we shouldn’t use the dossier as the basis for this intelligence community assessment,” he said.
“It just doesn’t hold up,” Jordan added.
He continued, “Brennan’s response was, yeah, but doesn’t it ring true?”
Jordan said, “That was his attitude.”
He added, “When he changed that, that became the predicate for the entire Mueller investigation.”
Van Susteren then asked for clarification.
“And by dossier, do you mean the Steele dossier?” she asked.
“Exactly,” Jordan replied.
She then asked about Christopher Steele.
“Where is Steele in this?” Van Susteren said.
Jordan responded, “He’s a foreigner, so it’s tougher to get him.”
He added, “The Clinton campaign hired the law firm who then hired the public relations firm who then hired the foreigner, Christopher Steele.”
Jordan said Steele “wrote the bogus document that Jim Comey uses the basis to get the warrant to spy on President Trump’s campaign.”
He continued, “They used that to change the intelligence community report.”
Jordan added, “That became the basis for this whole Mueller investigation.”
Van Susteren also referenced former FBI Director James Comey.
“Well, you mentioned Comey,” she said.
“I still have not recovered from the fact how he took a document,” Van Susteren added.
She said, “He feeds it through a friend, launders it through a friend in New York.”
Van Susteren concluded, “Chairman, Jim Jordan, always nice to have you. Thank you.”
