Conservative commentator Carl Higbie criticized a list of immigration-related demands put forward by Democrats, arguing they would severely weaken federal immigration enforcement while exposing what he described as glaring contradictions in Democratic positions on identification, enforcement authority, and public safety.
Higbie walked through what he said were ten Democratic demands tied to Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations, beginning with a requirement that ICE verify a person is not a U.S. citizen before detention.
“So let me get this straight. You guys don’t want anyone to have to prove they are US citizens to vote or even to be here, but want ICE agents to have to prove the same people are not US citizens, to detain them?” Higbie said.

He added that most ICE arrests already involve individuals with standing deportation orders, noting, “They aren’t throwing darts at a map in the city and saying, we’re going to deport this. That’s not how it works.”
Higbie also criticized a demand that would prohibit ICE agents from wearing face coverings.
“Dude like three years ago, I couldn’t get on a train, I couldn’t get on a bus, a restaurant anywhere without a face mask. And now you want to ban them,” he said, calling the shift hypocritical.
Another demand would require immigration officers to display identifying information during enforcement actions.

“Three: require ID, require DHS officers conducting immigration enforcement to display their agency unique ID number and last name,” Higbie said, questioning the motive behind the proposal. “Why would they want that to doxx them, maybe??”
To illustrate what he described as a double standard, Higbie played a clip of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer discussing voter identification laws.
“It’s Jim Crow 2.0 and I called it Jim Crow 2.0 and the right wing went nuts all over the internet,” Schumer said.
“That’s because they know it’s true. What they’re trying to do here is the same thing that was done in the South for decades to prevent people of color from voting.”
Higbie responded by questioning the consistency of Democratic arguments.
“Are IDs bad, or are they good now? Or is it just for ICE?” he said. “IDS good, bad.”
He also took issue with a proposal to bar immigration enforcement near polling places and courts.
“What the hell are illegals doing at polling places?” Higbie said.
“They shouldn’t be there at all, and courts too. That’s where the bad guys are.”
Higbie rejected a demand prohibiting profiling based on language or location, arguing that behavioral patterns can establish reasonable suspicion.
“I call this patterning,” he said, adding, “Seems like probable cause to me, at least, to ask if there are US citizens.”
He further warned that Democratic proposals allowing local oversight and prosecution of federal agents would expose ICE officers to hostile jurisdictions.
“This is what will happen day one,” Higbie said, predicting that federal agents could be targeted by local juries in areas opposed to immigration enforcement.
Higbie said Democrats would not hesitate to override their own rules if power shifted.
“The Democrats will absolutely use the supremacy clause to crush their own rules guaranteed because that’s what they do,” he said.
Addressing detention standards, Higbie dismissed complaints about ICE facilities.
“I lived in a tent in Iraq in the summer with no air conditioning for three months at one time,” he said.
“So as far as I’m concerned, as long as it’s better than that. Shut up.”
He concluded by arguing that the demands undermine federal authority and cannot be compromised with.
“These people are all illegal. They’re not supposed to be here anyway,” Higbie said.
“This is why you cannot negotiate with Democrats. We got to make up every inch of ground we can while we’re in the majority, because they will swing the boat way back to the left when they get the reins back.”
