Democrats Rushing to Embrace ‘Big Tent,’ Throwing Their Baby to the Wolves

Democrats spent about $70 million to take out Abdul El-Sayed in yesterday’s primary, and all they got was a lot of lousy T-shirts. Haley Stevens, despite overperforming in the final tally, still lost. For every dollar spent to elect El-Sayed, 11 were spent to defeat him, and it didn’t work.

It’s hard to say what exactly the Organized Crime Democrats, who are on a massive losing streak in this primary election season, will do in the long run. Perhaps they are hoping that the DSA/Islamist candidates getting chosen to represent their party lose in November, giving them back their party, and perhaps they are hoping that their voters will hold their noses and vote for the radicals anyway, giving them the majorities in the House and the Senate.

It’s a tough call for them. Long-term pain for short-term gain, or short-term pain for an uncertain long-term gain. Nobody likes those choices. They are choosing the short-term gain, apparently.

Senator Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and DSCC chair Kirsten Gillibrand endorse Abdul El-Sayed for US Senate in Michigan

“Abdul El-Sayed has run an energetic campaign that inspired thousands of Michiganders across the state, with a clear focus on lowering costs and standing up for working families.

“Democrats are united by a common purpose: putting a check on Donald Trump by defeating his Republican enablers and taking back the Senate. We look forward to working with Abdul and Democrats across Michigan to win this seat in November.”

But one thing is clear: the progressives in the Party are thrilled beyond words, and at least some of the rank and file are already resigned to having radicals as their colleagues, hoping that they can still get their slices of the pie as they vote away Americans’ rights and the future of our country. If they can’t steal the golden eggs, they want some of the cooked goose at least.

NEW: It appears that all five Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee on Federal Courts will boycott today’s committee hearing on the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood in US, arguing that they believe GOP will use it to scapegoat all Muslims. “Democrats have no intention of indulging this political creepshow,” the Dems say in a joint statement.

The Dems on the committee are: @SenWhitehouse, @SenBlumenthal, @maziehirono, @AlexPadilla4CA, & @SenPeterWelch. 

The hearing, called by Senate Republicans and chaired by @SenTedCruz (R-TX), is titled ““Hidden in Plain Sight: Confronting the Muslim Brotherhood Network in America.” The Muslim Brotherhood promotes governance based on Islamic principles and several of its branches have been labeled as a terrorist organization. Last year, the Treasury Department imposed sanctions on a senior leader of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood has had a presence in the US for decades. 

Hearing at 2:30pm ET. No Democrats are expected to participate.

We’re going to hear a lot more about “big tents” and “Islamophobia” from Democrats, to the point of defending the actual Muslim Brotherhood, which is banned in Muslim countries as a terrorist organization. Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Jordan all ban the Brotherhood, but the Democrat Party wants them in the tent and is getting used to the idea that Hasan Piker is one of their top surrogates to the emerging Democrat base.

You know Hasan. Great guy. Loves Mao. Sad that the Soviet Union died. Wants capitalist blood running in the streets. Thinks America deserved 9/11.

The progressives go much further. They don’t see radicals at all. They see bosom buddies. They won’t just work with them. They are happy for the backup. 

Democrat Senator Chris Van Hollen thinks that calling Abdul El-Sayed too far-Left is “dead wrong.”

The DSA is no longer the fringe group in the Democrat Party, and the Organized Crime Democrats understand that. They see their own power, as much as will remain, as tied to the success of the Bolsheviks. They understand that they are on the menu, but have decided to do their best to make the decline more comfortable for themselves.

Lost in the noise of El-Sayed’s victory were two more wins by DSA candidates in Michigan; two candidates for Congress endorsed by the DSA also won, including knocking off yet another incumbent. For the moment, at least, the Bolsheviks are ascendant, which has to make the OCDs worry that all the money they have been skimming is going to be diverted to failing socialist experiments.

Not to mention the fact that socialism may be more popular than ever for Democrat Party base voters, but not the electorate as a whole. Socialists will almost certainly win in deep Blue districts, but will struggle mightily to win competitive races except in the most anti-Republican years.

For over a decade, the Democrats have kept the Bernie Sanders wing of the Party out of power, and their defeat in this effort is now evident. They “saved” the Party from Bernie in 2016, only to lose in the general election. They managed again in 2020, and managed to “win” the election in 2020 through extraordinary means. They selected Kamala to avoid a Bernie run in 2024, and that didn’t work out. 

Expect a Bernie Sanders or AOC nominee in 2028. The OCDs are almost certainly dead as a force for now, and if they can’t regain power, their NGO complex will completely defect to the Bolsheviks. That’s where their heart lies anyway. 

Actual liberal/centrist Democrats will have to get used to losing the big races to the Bolsheviks. Michigan is a swing state; it’s not NYC or San Francisco. Wisconsin is a swing state, and Hong is likely to win that. That should terrify them, and probably does despite the happy talk about big tents.

It’s impossible to say how many Democrats will defect from the Party, but the number is far from zero. Antisemitism is a bridge too far for some. Communism is a bridge too far for others. The mendacity of Democrats during the Trump years didn’t faze them, because TDS kept them aligned with a party they no longer recognized, but that is not likely to hold forever.
