Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold was arrested Wednesday in Tampa, Florida, and faces multiple felony charges related to a robbery and kidnapping that occurred in early February. Authorities said Arnold’s arrest follows an ongoing investigation into a targeted armed robbery.

Tampa police previously apprehended six individuals connected to the Feb. 4 incident, which took place shortly after midnight. According to law enforcement, three men were pistol-whipped, held at gunpoint, and robbed during the encounter.

Investigators identified Arnold as the primary conspirator, alleging he “coordinated and directed the codefendants” to lure the victims to an apartment where the assault occurred. This information was included in a release from the state attorney’s office.

Arnold turned himself in at the Orient Road Jail in Hillsborough County on Wednesday night. He faces four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery, each of which carries a potential life sentence. According to court records, he is scheduled to appear in Hillsborough County court Thursday afternoon.

The state attorney’s office announced it will file a pretrial motion seeking to keep Arnold detained until his trial. A date for that motion hearing has not yet been determined, according to officials.

The investigation indicated that the events began after personal property belonging to Arnold and others was stolen Feb. 1 from an Airbnb he rented in Largo, Florida. Authorities said Arnold stayed there periodically with the six codefendants — Arianna Del Valle, Jasmine Randazzo, Lyndell Hudson, Christion Williams, Boakai Hilton, and Freddie Lee Hughes III — along with other friends.

Police documents show that Arnold, Hilton, Hughes, and another person reported a property loss of more than $250,000 to the Largo Police Department on Feb. 3. Tampa police said Arnold suspected that two of the three victims in the later kidnapping case were responsible for the Airbnb theft, though investigators ultimately found they were not involved.

In its official statement, the state attorney’s office accused Arnold of “orchestrating the kidnapping and robbery just hours after reporting the missing items to the Largo Police Department.” Investigators also reported finding a group chat where Arnold and Hilton allegedly gave instructions to Del Valle, Williams, and Hudson during the assault.

According to the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office, two of the codefendants have pleaded guilty. The remaining four defendants are currently being held without bond, pending further proceedings in the case.

Arnold’s representatives issued a statement in response to the charges. Denise White, CEO of EAG Sports Management, said Arnold “categorically denies any involvement in the matters underlying the allegations made against him and maintains his innocence.” White added, “There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations. Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences.”

White further noted that “Mr. Arnold looks forward to his day in court and is confident that the judicial process will lead to his ultimate vindication.” The statement did not provide additional specifics regarding Arnold’s legal defense strategy.

The Lions released a statement acknowledging their awareness of the situation. The team said they would not offer further comment “out of respect for the ongoing legal process.”

Arnold was previously approached by reporters about the off-field matter during Detroit’s veteran minicamp on June 17. At that time, he declined to comment, stating that he wanted to “focus on football” while recovering from a season-ending shoulder surgery.
