Tucker Carlson is likely running for President of the United States.
It pains me to say that, because he is a truly disgusting human being, and you and I will be tarred with the same brush as he will be. He used to be one of “us,” if a bit on the boisterous side. And to our credit, as if that were enough, the guy was and remains deviously brilliant.
I don’t expect Tucker to get a ton of votes, but he certainly can get enough to change the outcome of a presidential race should he decide to pop into the race. He does have almost 18 million followers on X, although I am certain that quite a few are like me and hate-follow him for one reason or another.
I have had many opportunities to write posts about Tucker that I have declined, because I didn’t want to do a series of “Look at what insane thing Tucker Carlson said” pieces. I avoid Candace Owens for the same reason. In a sane world they would be irrelevant cranks, but it turns out that there is a large market for cranks, and people in that market actually vote, so I keep an eye on them.
I chose to write this post for one reason: Tucker interviewed another potential offbeat presidential candidate, Hunter Biden.

Biden has been making the podcast circuit, raising his profile, and for all the noise he makes about wanting to focus on helping fellow addicts recover, it’s pretty clear he wants something to do with politics, which has been his bread and butter his entire life. It is the family business, and Joe has one foot in the grave (may he at least not suffer too badly on the way).
Tucker has combined his passion for self-promotion with his obsession with Israel, and helping Hunter rehabilitate himself by turning Hunter’s drug-fueled felony spree into an Israeli plot, as if Israel has nothing more important than to provide Hunter with hookers, blow, and cushy positions at Chinese and Ukrainian sketchy businesses.

This is perfectly in line with Tucker’s new shtick, which is reinventing reality and then appending the word “obviously” to the most absurd assertions.
“The world is flat. Obviously!” “Donald Trump is the antichrist. Obviously!” “Hunter Biden was framed! Obviously.”
To which I say: Tucker Carlson has had a psychotic break. Obviously.
So here we have a man who thinks the wrong side won World War II, or something close enough to that, interviewing a man whose main claim to fame is flashing his penis on camera as he smokes crack and takes on several prostitutes at once while demanding Ukrainian businessmen send hundreds of thousands of dollars to fund his unsavory habits.
It’s a match made in heaven.
No doubt, when the Carlson/Biden ticket is announced, Tucker will demand first billing, which should be just fine with Hunter. He is allergic to actual work anyway, so it works out well for all involved.
