President Donald Trump is preparing to make a major push for Republican candidates during the final stretch of the 2026 midterm elections, telling GOP lawmakers Wednesday that he plans to personally campaign in key races across the country, as reported by the New York Post.

Speaking at an End of Summer BBQ event with Republican lawmakers and administration officials at the White House Rose Garden on Sept. 2, Trump said he intends to devote the final 30 days before the Nov. 3 elections — and potentially more time — to helping Republicans in 35 closely watched races.

“I’m going to take the final 30 days, maybe a little bit more than that, because it’s all about 35 races,” Trump said. “I’m going to go to every one of those 35 places, and we’re going to see if we can get everyone elected.”

Trump did not identify all 35 races he has targeted, but he asked lawmakers attending the dinner, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., to provide him with names of candidates who could benefit from his involvement.

“give me some names where, I say, is either tied, or you’re winning by a little bit, or you’re losing by a little bit,” Trump said.

The president indicated that his campaign efforts would not be limited to races in which Republican candidates already have a strong chance of winning.

“In some cases, you can be losing by a lot, and we’ll bring you over the line,” Trump added. “But mostly, it’s if you’re close – and we’ll get, I think, we’ll get all those people elected.”

Trump also said he plans to conduct a series of tele-town halls during the final weeks of the campaign.

He suggested that the schedule could include as many as 10 events in a single night, giving him another way to reach voters without having to physically travel to every location.

“They’re fantastic. They work amazingly,” he said.

The president specifically named two states where he intends to campaign for Republican Senate candidates.

In Texas, Trump pledged to campaign for Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is facing Democrat James Talarico in a closely watched Senate race.

Trump also plans to travel to Alaska to campaign for Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan, who is seeking to retain his seat.

While discussing his plans for Texas, Trump joked about Paxton’s appearance, saying, “You might not like the way he dresses.”

Trump’s proposed campaign schedule comes as Republicans prepare for the Nov. 3 midterm elections and fight to maintain control of both chambers of Congress.

The president compared the effort to the final months of his 2024 presidential campaign, when he said he maintained an intense schedule and largely avoided taking time off.

Trump recalled that he had committed himself to a demanding campaign schedule four months before the 2024 election.

“Four months out I said, ‘OK, no days off.’ If I didn’t make 4-5 speeches a day it was very bad. I just went around and really campaigned hard,” he recalled.

Trump said he had decided during that campaign that he would not spend his time playing golf and would instead focus entirely on winning the election.

“For 4 months, there will be no pleasure. I’m not gonna go play golf. … All I’m gonna do is work, work, work, fight, fight, fight, win, win, win … and I did.”

The president’s comments signal that he intends to make himself a central figure in the closing weeks of the 2026 midterm campaign, particularly in races where Republican candidates are within striking distance.

With the elections approaching, Trump’s strategy will rely on a combination of personal campaign appearances and remote events designed to mobilize Republican voters and help candidates in competitive contests.

The effort also gives Trump an opportunity to use his national political profile in races that could determine whether Republicans retain their majorities in Congress.

The president’s remarks came as campaigns entered the final stretch before voters head to the polls on Nov. 3.
