Jacob Elordi found himself at the center of an online debate this week after a video surfaced showing him snapping at a fan in Japan.

The clip captured the “Euphoria” actor pushing back against what appeared to be an unwanted physical interaction from someone trying to take a selfie, as reported by Page Six.

In the short video circulating on social media, the 28-year-old actor was seen outside a busy street as a fan approached him. The fan greeted him with, “What up, chief?” and placed an arm on his back.

Elordi’s agitated response, “Don’t touch me, bro,” came immediately after the contact. The moment quickly spread across platforms, with viewers weighing in on what had happened.

Here’s What They’re Not Telling You About Your Retirement

The fan later identified himself as Otavio Bittencourt when he shared the clip on his Instagram page. His caption read, “Just wanted a picture, chief,” followed by a sad face emoji, as the post began gaining traction online.

The viral exchange quickly split opinions. Some viewers sympathized with Elordi, citing his right to personal boundaries and privacy, while others thought his reaction seemed unnecessarily harsh given the situation.

“The fan was probably just excited,” one person commented online, reflecting a softer view toward the encounter. Another added, “I understand boundaries, but the response felt a little cold,” suggesting Elordi could have handled it more graciously.

Supporters of the actor, however, were just as vocal. One fan expressed, “Secondhand embarrassment and not because of Jacob. Why do you touch unsolicited people on the streets?” echoing widespread agreement on respecting physical space.

Another online user defended him further, writing, “Totally agree. Jacob had every right to react the way he did. Touching another individual is not without intention!! If you want a photo? Just ask! Jacob was aware of your presence. So why the touch?? You wanted to touch him!!”

A third viewer put it more bluntly, asking, “Why are you touching him. Don’t touch random people like wtf. Why do people think this is ok. The patience he must have, too many people up in his space.”

According to reports within the same discussion threads, Elordi is visiting Japan on vacation with his new girlfriend Kendall Jenner. The two have been spotted traveling together throughout the country in recent days.

Those familiar with Elordi’s public behavior know this is not the first time his need for personal space has made headlines. Back in December, he was filmed in another tense moment, this time with a photographer at Paris’ Gare du Nord train station.

As the actor moved through the busy terminal surrounded by security, a photographer could be heard saying, “Jacob, we love you.” Elordi removed one earphone before replying, “You make it really hard for me to live.”

When the photographer repeated, “We love you,” the Australian star shot back, “I don’t love you,” adding again, “You make it really hard for me to live.”

Just two months before that, Elordi was caught in a similar exchange on the Venice Film Festival red carpet. A video from that encounter showed him posing with fans before an event official appeared to rush him along.

In the footage, the “Saltburn” actor firmly responded, “I’m going to take a picture right here,” continuing to sign autographs and pose for photos. He then looked toward the festival staff member and added, “Don’t ever tell me what to do.”

Across these repeated moments, Elordi’s insistence on drawing a clear line between his public persona and private boundaries has remained consistent. His reactions, though blunt, reveal his frustration with what he seems to perceive as invasive behavior.

The Japan video has reignited questions about how far fans should go when approaching celebrities in public spaces. Some argue fame naturally invites attention, while others insist consent and respect must still guide those interactions.

With the clip continuing to trend, the discussion has highlighted how one brief exchange can spark widespread scrutiny over celebrity privacy — and how even a simple touch can tip the balance between admiration and intrusion.
