EXCLUSIVE: Everyday Americans Say They’re Done With Democrats’ Shutdown In New White House Video

Everyday Americans across the country are urging Democrats to open the government in a new video created by the White House and first obtained by the Daily Caller.

In a minute-long video, several Americans, some standing in farms and fields, call on Senate Democrats and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to end the government shutdown. Those featured argue that Schumer and the Democrats are hurting farmers and their farms.

“My name is Zach Bennett, and I’m an American farmer. Each day that this government shutdown continues, it is hurting the American farmer and hurting the American public,” one American says while standing in a field.

“I’m Nikki Ellis, an American hog farmer, the government shutdown affects us even here on our farm, we need USDA rolling full steam ahead,” another farmer in the video said.

Other Americans in the video urged Schumer and the Democrats to “stop this pettiness” so they could get back to work. One Michigander said that because of the government shutdown, life is not getting easier for Americans.

“Every day that our government is shut down, hard working Americans suffer,” one American said. “Senator Schumer is keeping our government shut down, which is hurting us, farmers. The Senate needs to pass the House Republicans’ clean continuing resolution and reopen our government.”

The government officially shut down on Oct. 1 after Senate Democrats voted against a clean continuing resolution and demanded increased funding for Medicaid, including Affordable Care Act subsidies and reimbursements for spending from states on illegal immigrants.

After the shutdown began, President Donald Trump met with Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought to discuss layoffs and how to downsize the federal government. (RELATED: Democrats Are Terrified Of Trump’s Shutdown Slasher — And They Should Be)

Nine days after the shutdown began, Vought announced on X that mass layoffs had begun. More than 4,000 federal workers were fired, according to a court filing.

An OMB spokesperson told the Daily Caller that number is just a “snapshot” of what had happened at the time of the filing. “More coming,” the source added.

OMB is making every preparation to batten down the hatches and ride out the Democrats’ intransigence.

“Don’t listen to the desperate attempts at spin from the Democrats as to why they shut down the government – listen to hardworking Americans sharing the truth,” White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told the Caller in a statement.

“They know that Chuck Schumer and the Democrat Party shut down the government because they want to give free health care to illegal aliens, and now Americans are paying the price. Democrats should listen to the patriots in this video: stop hurting working Americans and reopen the government,” she added.
