Florida Mother Arrested After Allegedly Kicking Child During Youth Football Brawl [WATCH]

A Florida mother was arrested Saturday after authorities said she became involved in a physical altercation during a youth football game in Fort Myers and allegedly kicked a child during the chaos on the field, as reported by The New York Post.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old Renee Lambert was taken into custody following the incident, which occurred during a Pop Warner football game.

Deputies said Lambert faces charges of child abuse and resisting an officer after video footage allegedly showed her participating in the altercation and kicking a male juvenile player in the leg.

Authorities said the confrontation broke out on the field between youth football players before adults became involved. Deputies reviewing video evidence reportedly observed Lambert in the middle of the fight before she allegedly kicked one of the players.

The arrest report stated that the victim told deputies Lambert kicked him in the leg while he was on the ground during the altercation. Investigators also cited witness statements in the report. One witness allegedly told deputies they saw Lambert kick the juvenile multiple times, while another witness claimed she pushed the victim during the fight.

The victim’s mother signed a desire to prosecute, according to deputies.

Body camera footage obtained by The Post showed Lambert arguing with officers during the arrest near the concession stand area, where deputies said they approached her as she was collecting her belongings and preparing to leave.

In the footage, Lambert can be heard questioning officers about why she was being detained.

“So, you’re mad at them for hitting me?” Lambert asked officers.

An officer responded, “I’m mad at an adult for attacking a kid. Stop! You’re detained right now.”

Lambert resisted as officers attempted to handcuff her, according to the sheriff’s office.

“No I’m not. Goodbye … get your hands off me,” Lambert said.

The officer replied, “You are being pointed out as being a suspect right now. You’re detained.”

Lambert then referenced “number nine” and demanded officers “go get number nine,” appearing to refer to one of the youth football players involved in the incident.

“A kid?” the officer responded. “You’re an adult … You are detained because they said you hit a kid.”

Deputies said Lambert became confrontational and refused to give officers her hands while they attempted to place her in handcuffs, leading to the additional resisting charge.

Following the arrest, Lambert was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital after complaining of a headache, according to the arrest report.

The incident drew attention after a video from the altercation circulated online and was later shared by Gulf Coast News. The footage showed multiple individuals involved in the confrontation as players and adults gathered on the field.

Lambert is scheduled to appear in court on June 1.
