‘It’s Not Journalism, It’s Pure Tribalism’ [WATCH]

Fox News correspondent Trace Gallagher criticized mainstream media outlets for what he described as overwhelmingly negative coverage of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) amid heightened enforcement actions and protests.

Gallagher said the news media’s reporting appears driven more by political hostility than objective journalism.

Gallagher argued that despite the Department of Homeland Security’s efforts to communicate ICE’s mission—targeting criminal illegal immigrants—the message is being ignored by protesters, political leaders, and media organizations.

“It appears the DHS message about ICE agents going after criminal illegal immigrants has now fallen on deaf ears. The protesters are still loud, violent, defiant. Their political leaders are still launching obscenities in hopes of stirring the pot,” Gallagher said.

Gallagher said that media portrayals of ICE following the fatal shooting of a U.S. citizen in Minneapolis have been especially skewed.

He cited analysis showing that major broadcast networks ran overwhelmingly negative reports on the agency.

“After the shooting of Renee Good, the coverage of ICE on CBS, NBC,’ and ABC was 93% negative,” Gallagher said.

Analysts have documented the disproportionate negative tone in coverage, reflecting a pattern that conservatives argue mischaracterizes law enforcement operations after clashes in Minnesota sparked national protests.

Gallagher said that level of negative coverage goes beyond journalism and enters the realm of tribalism.

“Common sense knows the legacy media hates Trump and hates ICE, but 93% negative is not journalism. It’s tribalism. It is group hate on steroids,” he said.

He also raised questions about ideological consistency, pointing to public outrage over offenses such as those associated with Jeffrey Epstein and contrasting that with resistance to law enforcement actions when similar crimes are involved.

“And what truly baffles common sense is the very same liberals who are outraged and obsessed with Jeffrey Epstein and going after child sex predators are now impeding, interfering and injuring law enforcement officers going after child sex predators,” Gallagher said.

Gallagher questioned whether protesters have considered the broader context of criminal activity among illegal immigrants, including allegations of serious crimes in the United States.

“Have any of these protesters seen the 1000’s of illegal immigrants in this country accused of raping and sexually abusing children?” he asked.

He suggested that partisan narratives have become so entrenched that objective discussion is discouraged.

“Or is the liberal narrative so precious, so profound and so protected that drifting off course is forbidden?” Gallagher said.

Gallagher concluded by offering a critique of how media and protest movements prioritize emotion over facts, arguing that this dynamic diminishes honest debate and distorts public perception.

“Maybe it’s true that hatred generates more votes than love,” he said.
