It’s Racist to Like Dogs, Apparently

A pro-Hamas activist who made her name during the Israel-Hamas war has caused quite a stir with her call to ban dogs in NYC.

If that sounds absurd on its face, you haven’t been paying attention to what has been going on in Western cities where Muslims have become a significant fraction of the population. Zohran Mamdani has already made significant moves to Islamize New York, including blasting the Islamic call to prayer five times a day.

Of course, we can’t assume that Mamdani is going to ban dogs in New York City just because one of his most prominent supporters is pushing for it, but then again, if you think the idea is absurd, you should know that this idea has gained a lot of traction in the UK.

And it’s not all just talk. There are now parts of UK cities that are essentially Muslim enclaves, and they are actively pushing to make them no-go zones for dogs, and promising that as their influence grows, their power to expand the dog-free zones will grow along with it.

Congressman Randy Fine, in response to Kiswani, said out loud what most of us were thinking and whispering under our breath: if we have to choose between giving up our dogs and giving up the opportunity for our communities being strengthened through Muslim diversity, we would choose to keep the dogs and say goodbye to the Muslims.

This of course caused a firestorm, with the Democrats howling in outrage at this racist comment. Except, what exactly is racist about it? It’s not like we are forcing Muslims to get dogs or leave; we are just saying, “if you don’t like dogs, go back to where you came from.” Trust me, the majority of Americans didn’t ask to be swamped by Muslim immigrants, and find it quite rich that they are asking us to adapt to them rather than the opposite.

The UK has gone much farther down the Islamist path than the US, but anybody who claims that what is happening there won’t happen here if we don’t stop it is either naive or…lying. I prefer to think the former, of course. These are the people who always dismiss the slippery slope until we hit the bottom, and then conclude that what would never happen actually is a really good thing.

The movement to ban dogs is very much in its infancy, and I have my doubts that it will gain traction outside cities that are massively Muslim. Americans love their dogs.

On the other hand, in the UK, the ruling party is anxious to make the British countryside “less white,” and seems unbothered by rape gangs, so is it so far-fetched to believe that they will experiment with dog-free zones in the way that they are with 15-minute, limited mobility cities? What seemed a ridiculous conspiracy theory 5 years ago is becoming a reality in Oxford.

It’s not bigotry to say “No” to a minority of people—especially newcomers we welcomed in—when they demand we change our way of life to fit their preferences.

The opposite is true. It is arrogant in the extreme to demand we bow down and comply to their ridiculous demands. 

Islamists in Mamdani’s circle view dogs as too impure to keep as indoor pets.

Progressives in Bass’s LA allow encampment residents to abuse them and fill our kill shelters with them.

Communists eat them.

I don’t hate Muslims, not that I know many of them, of course, because the Muslims around here keep to themselves in a very clannish way. But I assume that most Muslims are basically decent.

During one of my deployments, we had to inform the locals, in no uncertain terms, that no, they would not conduct their annual dog cull. In other words, they were not going to go out and kill every stray dog they could find. And they wisely complied.

Your fake fussy outrage doesn’t overcome what we saw. 

I expect there are some Muslims who don’t consider dogs haram and who are willing to treat dogs in the manner of civilized people. That doesn’t mean that’s not a tenet of faith for a significant portion of Muslims. A significant number of Muslims hate dogs. And, in fact, some Muslims who have come to the West have demanded that we accommodate their bigotry against these wonderful creatures.

So, no. I’m not going to accommodate anyone who dislikes dogs for any reason. My dogs are more important than people who hate or dislike dogs. If you think that makes me a bad person or a bigot, I am completely indifferent to your opinion.

This is not open to debate. We’re going to keep our dogs as we always have. If you come to our civilization, you’re going to respect our pets, or there’s going to be trouble. John Wick is the moderate position on this issue. 

But it’s clear that Islam is incompatible with Western society. Muslims clearly believe that. I certainly share that view with them. 

So, since this is a Western country, perhaps it is best to leave rather than try to change it. 

If agreeing with Congressman Fine makes me a racist, then…so what?
