James Talarico, the 37-year-old Democrat nominee in the Texas Senate race, shares a checking account with his mother, according to his financial disclosures.
Talarico has a Wells Fargo checking account listed on his personal financial disclosure with a balance anywhere between $15,000 and $50,000. The account notes it is “jointly held by the filer and the filer’s mother,” and it is the only checking account listed in Talarico’s disclosure. The candidate’s mother, Tamara Talarico, frequently pitches in to fund her son’s political campaigns, even covering $1,437.84 of moving expenses for Talarico when he was 32, according to the Free Beacon.

Tamara has repeatedly contributed to Democratic campaigns, not just Talarico’s, according to the Beacon. Tamara has donated over $2,000 to Democrats since 2023, with records showing she donated over $450 to Talarico’s Senate campaign. Tamara and her husband Mark, Talarico’s adoptive father, each contributed $5,000 to his 2021 campaign for state representative. This is the same year Talarico reported a campaign contribution from his parents for moving expenses.
Talarico is set to face off against Republican nominee Kent Paxton in the November election for the Texas Senate seat.
