Vice President JD Vance weighed in on the controversy surrounding American Eagle’s recent ad campaign featuring actress Sydney Sweeney, calling out what he described as the left’s overreaction during a Friday appearance on the “Ruthless” podcast, as reported by Fox News.
The campaign, titled “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans,” drew criticism from progressive commentators, some of whom accused the ad of promoting racially charged themes, with comparisons made to Nazi-era messaging.
“My political advice to the Democrats is continue to tell everybody who thinks Sydney Sweeney is attractive is a Nazi. That appears to be their actual strategy,” Vance said.

The vice president took aim at the broader implications of the left’s response, saying:
“It actually reveals something pretty interesting about the Dems, though, which is that you have like a normal, all-American beautiful girl doing like a normal jeans ad, right? To try to sell, you know, sell jeans to kids in America, and they have managed to so unhinge themselves over this thing.”
As a PROUD black man, I see nothing wrong with Sydney Sweeney and American Eagle parading her “good genes/jeans.”
Celebrating blue eyes and blonde hair isn’t “white supremacy.” Those are conventionally attractive, GOOD GENES. That doesn’t mean they’re the ONLY good genes. pic.twitter.com/FNfcpHuXZg

Vance continued, “You guys, did you learn nothing from the November 2024 election? Like, I actually thought that one of the lessons they might take is we’re going to be less crazy.”
He added, “The lesson they have apparently taken is we’re going to attack people as Nazis for thinking Sydney Sweeney is beautiful. Great strategy, guys. That’s how you’re going to win the midterms. Especially young American men.”
Podcast co-host Josh Holmes responded, “Their course correction lasted about 30 seconds,” to which Vance replied, “That’s right, [it] lasted 30 seconds, somehow has gotten even crazier.”
The vice president concluded by stating, “So much of the Democrats is oriented around hostility to basic American life. So you have a pretty girl doing a jeans ad, and they can’t help but freak out. It reveals a lot more about them than it does us.”
LMAO! JD Vance just reacted to leftists melting down over Sydney Sweeney

The backlash over the campaign erupted after Sweeney’s line in the ad — “My genes are blue” — was interpreted by critics as evoking language associated with genetic purity.
American Eagle has not removed the ad and included models of various backgrounds in the full campaign rollout.
