WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • Lake says court challenges slowed earlier deportation efforts.
  • She says mass deportations are now set to accelerate.
  • Lake pointed to plans to hire 5,000 new ICE officers.
  • She says Trump has fortified and secured the southern border.

Kari Lake says the Trump administration is preparing to accelerate deportations after legal challenges slowed earlier efforts, arguing that expanded Immigration and Customs Enforcement staffing and increased border security will allow the administration to move more aggressively.

Lake pushed back on critics who have complained that deportations have not happened quickly enough, saying they should recognize the obstacles the administration has faced.

“You know, a lot of these people who’ve been saying, “Oh, they’re not deporting fast enough, have to remember, and they’re not aware of it. Maybe the courts have been trying to stop President Trump and Secretary Mark Wade Mullin every step of the way from doing the deportations,” Lake said.

According to Lake, those obstacles are beginning to ease, creating an opportunity for a broader deportation effort.

“Now things are opening up, and mass deportations are going to start. It’s going to be glorious,” Lake said.

Lake also pointed to plans to hire thousands of additional ICE officers as evidence that the administration is building the personnel needed to expand enforcement operations.

“and anybody who is complaining the deportations aren’t happening enough, you just mentioned they’re hiring 5,000 new ICE officers,” Lake said.

She challenged Americans who want faster deportations to consider joining ICE themselves.

“Anybody who’s complaining, I urge them to go to jobs.gov and sign. I think it’s USAJobs.gov and sign up to become an ICE officer, go through the training, and then help deport the people,” Lake said.

Lake characterized joining ICE as one way for critics of the deportation pace to directly contribute to the administration’s enforcement effort.

“These are all options, but President Trump and this administration is working incredibly hard, and they’ve also secured the border,” Lake said.

She said border security was a priority from the beginning of the administration.

“Day one, they started to secure that border,” Lake said.

Lake used a vivid comparison to describe how difficult she believes illegal crossings have become.

“I always say a stray cat can’t get across that border, and if these people think that they’re going to be coming up across the border, they got another thing coming,” Lake said.

She credited Trump with strengthening physical and operational control along the border.

“The president has fortified that border,” Lake said.

Lake also pointed to military involvement in portions of the border as part of the administration’s broader security strategy.

“You know that parts of it are under military control,” Lake said.

She then turned her attention to Mexico, questioning why migrants are still being allowed to travel north toward the United States despite the administration’s tougher border posture.

“My question is: Why is Mexico even allowing these people up to head to our border?” Lake said.

Lake’s overall argument was that the administration’s immigration agenda should be judged in light of the legal obstacles it has faced and the enforcement capacity it is now building. She maintained that the combination of additional ICE officers, stronger border fortification, and military involvement will allow deportations to increase.

At the same time, she made clear that she views public complaints about the speed of enforcement as incomplete without considering court challenges and staffing limitations. Her message to supporters demanding faster action was straightforward: the administration is expanding its capabilities, and those who want to help can apply to become ICE officers themselves.

Lake also portrayed the southern border as substantially more secure than before, while questioning Mexico’s role in allowing people to continue traveling toward it.
