Fox News anchor Bret Baier and FBI Director Kash Patel highlighted what they described as historic law enforcement gains at the FBI, pointing to sharp declines in violent crime and major increases in arrests, drug seizures, and criminal disruptions.
During the exchange, Baier laid out year-end statistics reflecting nationwide crime trends and FBI activity.
“Year End stats, 20% decrease in nationwide murder rate, 100% increase in arrests year over year. 31% increase in kilograms of fentanyl seized. 210% increase in gangs and criminal enterprises disrupted,” Baier said.

Patel said the figures represent an unprecedented year for the FBI and credited the results to leadership priorities set by President Donald Trump.
“I mean, that is the historic year in 117 years of the FBI history,” Patel said.
“If you took just one of those stats and accomplished in one year, it would be a monumental feat, and that is a commitment from President Trump to back law enforcement.”
Patel said staffing increases played a key role in the enforcement surge, noting a significant expansion of agents deployed into the field.

“What we did? We put 1000 agents into the field last year,” Patel said. “We’re going to send 1000 more employees to the field permanently this year so they can get after it for the American people.”
He emphasized the impact of the reported reduction in violent crime, particularly homicides.
“I mean, just think about what’s in those numbers, 20% less murders,” Patel said. “Just think about that.”
Patel also pointed to major gains in combating crimes involving children and drug trafficking, citing dramatic increases in enforcement outcomes.
“We have a 500% increase in those predators online that prey upon our children,” he said.
According to Patel, fentanyl interdictions reached levels with potentially massive public safety implications.
“We’ve seized enough fentanyl to kill 140 million Americans,” Patel said.
“That’s just the FBI alone.”
Patel added that arrests of violent offenders doubled over the past year, marking a sharp shift in enforcement intensity.
“And as you said, we have doubled, doubled the number of violent offender arrests in one year under President Trump,” he said.
He said the reported results represent only the beginning of broader law enforcement efforts.
“And that is just the beginning of it,” Patel said.
