A 41-year-old mother was fatally stabbed at a bus stop in Fairfax County, Virginia, allegedly by an illegal immigrant who had been arrested more than 30 times, according to local and federal authorities, as reported by The New York Post.
Stephanie Minter, of Fredericksburg, was found with multiple stab wounds to her upper body inside a bus stop shelter on Richmond Highway last Monday, Fairfax County Police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the suspect as 32-year-old Abdul Jalloh, a Sierra Leone national.

Investigators said surveillance footage and interviews revealed that Jalloh was the last person seen with Minter and that he had exited a bus with her prior to the attack.

Jalloh was arrested on Tuesday after an individual recognized him entering a business, police said.
He was charged with second-degree murder in Minter’s death, as well as petit larceny for an alleged crime that occurred earlier the same day.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, Jalloh entered the United States illegally from Sierra Leone in 2012.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged a detainer against him in 2020, and a judge granted him a final order of removal to a country other than Sierra Leone, DHS said in a statement.
On Wednesday, a federal judge ruled that a DHS policy allowing the removal of immigrants to “third countries” that are not their own without providing notice or an opportunity to appeal is unlawful, according to CBS News.
Federal authorities said Jalloh has been arrested more than 30 times on charges including rape, malicious wounding, assault, drug possession, identity theft, trespassing, larceny, firing a weapon, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and pickpocketing.
A motive for the fatal stabbing has not been publicly identified. Authorities have not said whether Minter and Jalloh knew each other.
Jalloh remains held without bond. ICE has lodged a detainer requesting that Virginia officials not release him.
Minter’s obituary described her as a “happy, jolly individual, filled with love and adoration for her loved ones,” and a “beam of light in dark places.”
“Stephanie will be sorely and dearly missed, with the world missing out on that beam of light we came to know so well,” the obituary stated.
“Though she has taken new wings, the beauty she brought into this world remains forever in our hearts.”
She is survived by her son, mother, three brothers, grandmother, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Deputy Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis called on Virginia officials to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.
“We are calling on Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger and Virginia’s sanctuary politicians to commit to not releasing this murderer and violent career criminal from their jail without notifying ICE,” Bis said in a statement.
“This illegal alien’s murder of an innocent, beautiful American woman came less than 24 hours before Governor Spanberger’s demonization of ICE law enforcement.
This heinous criminal is a perfect example of why we need cooperation from sanctuary jurisdictions and the importance of third-country removals for the safety of the American people,” she added.
Fairfax County Police continue to investigate the case.
