A school bus driver in a Toronto suburb has been removed from his route after parents at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Elementary School expressed serious concerns about his appearance and behavior.

The driver, whose identity has not been publicly released, arrived at the school in what appeared to be a short skirt and a frilly pink-and-white costume resembling a schoolgirl uniform.

A sign displayed in the front window of the bus read, “The Lolita Line,” referencing the controversial 1955 novel Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, which centers on an adult man’s obsession with a 12-year-old girl.

The incident occurred outside the York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB)-run school in Woodbridge, a suburban community northwest of Toronto.

Video footage of the confrontation, obtained and released by Reduxx magazine, shows multiple parents questioning the driver about his attire and the sign on the bus.

In the video, the driver responds, “I do this every day, and I don’t think there is an issue,” before entering the bus and starting the engine.

One parent can be heard referring to the behavior as “mentally sick.”

A male school bus driver in Ontario, Canada, was confronted by parents after wearing a pink “school girl” outfit while on the job and allegedly calling his bus “the lolita line.”

After the video began circulating online, the YCDSB issued a statement through spokesperson Mark Brosens, who confirmed that the driver was not directly employed by the school board but instead worked for a third-party transportation provider contracted by the province.

“The company acted quickly to address this situation with its employee, and the driver will no longer provide busing to and from the school,” Brosens said in a statement to the Epoch Times.

“The company assured the YCDSB that this will not be an issue going forward at any YCDSB schools.”

Brosens also noted that all school bus drivers in Ontario must undergo police background checks, including vulnerable sector screenings, and receive training for working with children.

The bus company involved has not been named in public statements, and it remains unclear whether the driver has been reassigned to other routes outside the Catholic school district.

The incident has sparked additional concerns among parents and community members over driver conduct, school board oversight, and the appropriateness of dress and messaging displayed by adults responsible for transporting young children.

The use of the phrase “Lolita Line” drew widespread attention due to its literary association with child exploitation.

Officials have not confirmed whether any complaints were made prior to the June incident or how long the driver had been operating under the same circumstances.

The YCDSB, which serves over 50,000 students across York Region, has not released any further comment as of Tuesday.

The Ontario Ministry of Education has also not issued a public statement in response to the incident.

The school bus driver’s removal follows increased scrutiny over school-related conduct throughout Ontario in recent years, as the province has been at the center of several debates involving school policies, gender identity, and public displays.

No charges have been filed in connection with the incident, and there is no indication at this time of any ongoing criminal investigation.
