Democrat Maine Senate Candidate Graham Platner is allegedly throwing his support behind Democratic State Representative Valli Geiger, according to a report by WMTV 8.
According to Geiger, Platner called her Monday evening to ask if he could put her name forward.
“He said ‘Valli you are a fighter, you have been with this movement since the beginning’,” Geiger told Maine’s Total Coverage, according to the report.
Platner has not made any official campaign announcements at the time of publication.
Geiger said she was “heartbroken” by the recent sexual assault allegations that have surfaced in a recent post on social media.
Valli Geiger finally releases a statement.
“I will not throw Graham under the bus… I acknowledge the pain on all sides.”

Geiger is a Democrat who represents District 42 in Maine’s House of Representatives.
“I will not throw Graham under the bus, but neither will I slander or accuse Ms. Racicot of anything more than telling the truth as she experienced it. I acknowledge the pain on all sides and offer compassion on all sides,” Geiger wrote in a social post.
Geiger worked with Platner on securing funding for rape kit training while Platner was actively campaigning for the Democratic Senate nomination in Maine. She also appeared in a campaign advertisement for Platner in April, touting Platner’s help in passing her legislation.

Geiger said she wants “a very open, transparent, robust caucus to figure out who should step forward,” in a statement to NBC News.
A spokesperson for Platner’s campaign has since denied that the Senate candidate has endorsed Valli, in a statement to NOTUS.
Platner campaign spox denies this report:
“He’s not made any decision on endorsing. Graham called Valli to thank her for her support and encouraged her to consider running if he stepped down.” https://t.co/rOR02V33OS
